you want any job you can get that has benefits, trust me. and if you been with fedex for 2 years and make less then the new job when you just start out, id take the new job. not to mention you'd probably get some discounts at officemax.

or you can go to your boss and tell him officemax wants you at a higher pay rate and see if they will match it and stay at fedex. but i think you are better off at welfare if you have to go to the sicc to get an opinion on this matter. :dead:

I would stay at Fedex. I know a few people who have been working there for years, and it seems like it has paid off. They have all worked their way up from the courier status to managerial, and executive positions. You have to start somewhere. Figure out what you want to do the rest of your life, and see which career choice gives a better path for success.

More money sounds good at first, but you can't replace seniority. I'd prolly stay at fedex. Like rmiller said, fedex and ups always promote from within. If you stick it out at fedex a little longer you might end up being a manager makin 25 or more an hour...

exactly, you've been there 2 years, at least have the decency to talk to the boss. tell him your situation and they may increase you to 12.25 or more depending on the kind of worker you are......or you may not have to put in your two week notice as he gives you a handshake and says "good luck"

but i think you are better off at welfare if you have to go to the sicc to get an opinion on this matter. :dead:

Yup. This is a no brainer.

If Fedex matches the offer from Officemax, than go back to Officemax and say something like "I really felt like my hardwork and reliability would fit in well with the team here at officemax, but my current employer offered me 13 an hour, and I need to think about what is best for myself. Sorry but I cannot accept your offer"

and then keep your fingers crossed that officemax bumps up their initial offer, but if not, you are still making more money than yesterday.
