The military isnt for everyone.. but I'll say this.. my baby cousin was a loud mouth ass.. just a racist, disrespectful, loudmouth dickhead.. for real.. he graduated top of his class, worked at the Capitol building with some of the Senators and Congressmen.. but still .. he just couldnt find his 'direction'.. he joined the Marine Corp- to earn money for college.. and it was THE best thing he could have ever done with his life. He is a wonderful human being.. he turned his agressive obnoxious behavior into being a great Marine.. he just re-inlisted for another 4 years and will see parts of the world most of us will never see- good and bad.. but I think for some the military can be a very beneficial route to take..

I'm in the Air Force and yeah IMO if your not into the whole war fighting than the Air Force would be the best for the most part they really do care for there people but on the real the military is not for everyone you have to put up with a lot of bullshit and you can't just get fed up and say I quit if you could get a good job other than the military and it fullfills your life I would do that instead.

heres a link to some of the jobs the Air Force offers make sure not to join until you have on paper what your job is

http://www.airforce.com/careers/enlisted/careers.php

p.s. I work on jet engines like the f-16,b-1,etc; I don't know how good that sounds to you but its hard work.

My little brother is in the Marines. He's a little devil dog but he's always wanted to be one. The only thing he doesn't like is being away from family. Some people are all on that I'm a soldier and you're "just a civilian" type of bullshit when they get home but my little bro is a super solid dude so everytime I see him it's as if he never left. He just reinlisted and said he'll be spending most of his second term here in Cali. where he'll be non-deployable. It pretty much seems like he enjoys it but I still don't like it one bit knowing he's in Iraq right now and I can't look over him.

I'd recommend the Air Force.

If you join the Army or Marines... you'll most likely end up near or on the frontlines of some crazy war shit. My pops was in the Air Force and enjoyed it and learned the jet engine mechanic trade.. My brother-in-law has been in for almost 12 years and has traveled all over... however he was just sent to Iraq for 6 months. His job revolves around water testing and stuff of that nature.

I just enlisted in the Air Force, Im leavin for San Anton in two weeks. I got hella folks that's Marines tho, a couple Navy, and a couple of my cousins are joining the Air Force also. It's funny as shit, they all doing the same job as me and they all goin through the same recruiter as me. Air Force definitely treats their ppl better, some might say it's more cushy or whatever, but that's straight with me. Every service gets the same EXACT pay, so don't worry about that. The only difference is the bonuses. Army is givin some nice re-enlistment bonuses right now, and they give you some decent signing bonuses. As far as Air Force goes, if you do a 6 year instead of 4 year contract they give you a signing bonus, and other bonuses depend on your job. There are also 2 year contracts you can look into. Are you talkin to a recruiter yet? Just make sure you talk to one, and figure out WHY you want to join? Are you gonna go to College? Do you KNOW what you want to do with your life?

My advice to you, is if you DO go in the Marines or Army and end up being an MP or Infantry, etc. Think about how you can apply that job to your civilian life. If you want to be a cop when you get out, then those jobs have great applicability. Other than that, they're practically useless outside of the military. So keep that in mind, if this is something you want to do for the rest of your life, then cool. If you're just thinkin to go in for a lil bit, then do something that you can apply to the civilian world after you get out bruh.

Positives of Air Force:
* Unless you're a pilot, there's nothing about your job that's "combat" oriented. It's just a regular job. You work for the military, but you're not out there killing or getting killed. One of the main reasons the other branches have no respect for them.
* Employers look at this type of service as savvy, not as "redneckish." You're most likely working with computers, not rifles.

Negatives of Air Force:
* You have practically no say in your job. They assign one to you. You good at automotive or plane repair? Tough shit, you're a fireman if they say so.
* The AF is "overmanned" - so they don't need you. They turn enlistees down all the time. You have to score high on your ASVAB, been at least decent in high school, and have ZERO arrests (even if you were acquitted or charges dropped), and ZERO drug history.
* Even if you successfully enlist, there's a waiting period - sometimes up to 2 years. So if you need to get your life in order right away, this is not the way.
* You get no respect at all from combat vets. You think navy boys catch shit? Air force pogs might as well wear panties.

I'd split the difference and go Navy. They're a little "overmanned" - but if you enlist in the inner city, they'll take you, and give you your choice of jobs. Only problem is, you're in the ocean 55% of the time you serve, so you play a LOT of cards, and do a LOT of masturbating. Food is a little better than jail.

Marines are insane, every last one of them. They're the hardest, meanest killers I've ever been around - and they all have that insane look in their eyes. But, if you want to legally join a society of elite killers, this is the way to go. I hate Marines, but at the same time, I have nothing but reverance for them.

Army and National Guard is where the scum of the earth goes for a job. The Army is even taking felons again, so they're far from choosey. You'll get your pick of jobs since they're hard up, too. But, again, no respect from civilians. The Army ain't like the old days - it's full of fat bodies and flabmasters.

*if you want a combat oriented job in the AF there are some just not that many
*you sign up for the job you want at meps if the job you want is not open than dont sign up at that time
*I went to three different highschools because I got in a lot of trouble and graduated from a continuation highschool live oak in antioch
*the time you wait depends on your job I only waited about 3 months
*I've kicked it and worked with many army people its not like they look down on you now if you want to trade combat stories with them than you will probaly get clowned unless your in the AF as a SP,OSI,or some other spec. ops.

I joined about 3 1/2 years ago so in some ways it is harder to get in because the AF is overmanned.

Not true, There's combat controllers, PJ's, and then there are combat units that you can be assigned to; i.e. combat communications(computers), mobility readines sq(cops) and a few others.

Anyways, I recommend the AF. I've been in for 3 years now and I have no big complaints. My brother is in the Army and he's spent the last year and a hald in Iraq. He's getting ready to get out in July and said that he is not going to reenlist cause it would only guarantee him at least one more tour in Iraq.

Army and Marines is basically the muthafuckas that was too dumb to get into the Air Force and not gay enough for the Navy.
That's about the dumbest thing i've read in awhile. I'm in the Army and my GT score and ASVAB score is almost maxed out. Only a small percentage of the Army are "stupid grunt infantry", even alot of the infantry have alot of intelegence.

Anyway....I wouldn't really recommend the Army or the Marines unless you like to deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan alot, on the other hand i'd recommend the Army if you wanna get rank and pay raises fast, you don't gain much rank in the Air Force very easily.

The Army is decent though, i've been in two years now and it hasn't been too bad, i'm even Combat Arms in the Field Artillery and i'd say it's not bad at all.
