first of all the only dago artists i heard from was jayo felony in the early 90's. then once i was at san diego state and some guy was handing out black mikey tapes. then sometime early 2000's my brother picked up lil cs dollars and sins. i heard it bang'n out of his subs and was like damn that shit is hardcore! honestly the first time i really was hooked was when we took a trip to fam mart from out of town. once i got there i seen some more local acts. i picked up cricet war paint, the new west and my bro got big june my dago's on based on some guy saying he was tight. we got back to the hotel and i bumped war paint on my earphones and was floored! all this new talent i never heard before bang'n on some tight ass beats. then i bumped new west that shit was tight too. ever since i been hooked. it was cool to see where this music comes from cause before this i never been to that part of dago even though i got cousins from dago.it's been on ever since. dago's truely the new west in my opinion there's so much talent there it's like a gold mine.

I like how these cats just drop albums outta the blue like it's nothing.

SouthSanDago comes on the board and posts that something new just hit the shelves that had never been mentioned as coming (i.e. Don Diego mixtape).

And when they do say something is coming it usually does within 2 months of saying (ex: Mob Kings)...up in L.A. Detox was supposed to come out in '03 or something..lol

But the first thing I listend to was Battleram a.k.a. Raj Dawg "Everyday Life Situations Vol. 1"

With the exception of Jayo Felony, it was the mexacin rappers i heard first, like Mr.Shadow and Mr.Lil One. Steve Vicious did most of their beats back then so i decided to find more Steve Vicious productions which snowballed into Cricet and so on and so on, you get the point.

I knew about Jayo back in the day but he didn't turn me on to SD music even though he kinda tight. I had got my hands on Luni & Irocc's How The West was Won cd and heard Ecay snappin on that Pick Up The Pieces. So I ordered his cd through Best Buy then I heard about Triggeration Station from Murderdog and got put up on the Sicc Shop after that.

i started listening to sd rappers because of knightowl, lil rob, mr lil one, mr shadow, they are all chicano rappers most of them have a couple of songs with some black rappers and they all sound good so now i like jayo, mitchy slick etc....

p.s i also wondered how the rappers that knightowl talks shit about sounded like so i started listening to aztec tribe and i thought some of their shit was alright, lil rob will help put dago on the map with his upcomming album
