Mall's better technically, but I feel Dreezy on a personal level more...
Well, Mall's more consistent lyrically, but I don't find myself getting the urge to listen to his more recent CDs a lot (IMMACULATE, MACKIN SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS). Mall still raps well, most of the production's on hit, and both CDs are cool once or twice a month, but I sense that Mall now treats rap as a business more than something he enjoys. There's a detachment about Mall on these CDs--he's there, you're here, business is business, he's got one eye on the mic and another on the studio clock...
Dreezy's been hit-and-miss lyrically since RAPPER GONE BAD, and I wouldn't call IT'S NOT WHAT YOU SAY or THIZZELLE WASHINGTON classics, but I find myself playing these CDs as much as MD's earlier stuff. Why? To me, MD still has FUN rapping and entertaining fans w/ his goofy humor, and contrary to what many overly serious rap fans may think, fun DOES count. Even if his more recent CDs have a few mediocre (or even wack) songs, the dope ones make up for that, because MD's enthusiasm is contagious. He's glad to be out of jail, and appreciates doing things on his terms. And his DVDs are the funny comedy show that Snoop WANTS to have (w/ his DOGGY FIZZLE TELEVIZZLE), but never will. So, my vote goes to Mac Dre. Just my opinion, though.
PEACE!
