Because the movie had no regard for the characters and was totally fucking lame. It leaves no other logical expectation than they would have made him totally fucking lame too.

And he does in the movie as well.

as far as gi joe. we just gotta see how the actor plays cobra commanders role. because if he fucks that up the movie will be trash. when i watched gi joe as a kid i only gave a fuck about cobra and cobra commander

Joseph Gordon Levitt is a great actor, but I just don't quite understand their casting of him in the lead bad guy role. Unless destro is the lead and Cobra Commander is just going to be introduced and solidified throughout the film.

I agree there was no need to change him up. If they want to dumb it down that can be fine too, but why take an established character and do it? Couldn't they just have easily made up some hybrid mutant thing for them to fight at the end? Why take deadpool and fuck him up? Ryan Reynolds has even expressed his distaste for how they changed deadpool. Fox always fucks shit up.

I don't know how inappropriate Cobra Commander really is. I mean just judging from the action figure and the title of the movie we probably find out that Cobra Commander gets fucked up in the face at some point and it leads to him wearing the classic stuff in the future. I'm more disappointed that every Joe is wearing some outfit that is a rip off of Snake Eyes. They should change it to GJ Snake Eyes and drop the Joes. But the movie is going to suck anyway. They destroyed transformers, star wars, indiana jones, and they'll do it to GI Joe too.
