Kowalski, the hero of the story, works for a car delivery service. He takes delivery of a 1970 Dodge Challenger to take from Colorado to Frisco, California. Shortly after pickup, he takes a bet to get the car there in less than 15 hours. After a few run-ins with motorcycle cops and highway patrol they start a chase to bring him into custody. Along the way, Kowalski is guided by Supersoul - a blind DJ with a police radio scanner. Throw in lots of chase scenes, gay hitchhikers, a naked woman riding a motorbike, lots of Mopar and you've got a great cult hit from the early 70's.

I liked these two flicks a lot... prolly some of the better films I've seen in a while. Nightwatch is my favorite just cuz the ending of Daywatch wasn't as good as I was expecting, but overall, they're worth checkin' out.

NIGHT WATCH follows Anton Gorodetsky (Konstantin Khabensky) as he discovers he isn't a normal human and is an Other with magical powers. Anton chooses to join the forces of Light and spends his time hunting vampires, trying to remove a witch's curse, and stop the end of the world from happening.

DAY WATCH continues the story begun in NIGHT WATCH. It takes place two years later and deals more with the internal struggles of Anton as he struggles with the demons of his past while continuing to do the right thing. In the meantime, someone has framed Anton for the murders of Dark Ones. Anton finds himself on the run while trying to locate the mysterious Chalk of Fate that could enable him to reverse the wrong decisions of his life.

NIGHT WATCH and DAY WATCH form the first two films of a planned trilogy. Be on The look out for TWILIGHT WATCH, which will be the third and final chapter of the trilogy, which I believe is due out in 2009.

Read the book when I was a kid too. Probably Tom Cruise's best movie, other than The Outsiders (although he was barely in that).

Tom Cruise actually has more screen time in the 2 disc special edition of "The Outsiders". That new version of the movie follows the book from beginning to end and has a whole different score from the original version. IMO, I could of did without the new score on the re-release, but oh well...

One of the best movies in the last years imo.

If you like Snatch or Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels, you will like this one, if you don't mind that it is a Mexican Movie...

A Clockwork Orange (1971)

In the not-too-distant future, a charming young sociopath named Alex, leads a nihilistic lifestyle of 'ultraviolence' which comes to a head when he is jailed for murder and volunteers for an experimental brainwashing treatment to reform criminals in exchange for a shorter prison sentence.

One of only two movies rated X on its original release to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

The film was withdrawn voluntarily by Stanley Kubrick from the United Kingdom after being criticized as too violent and , according to his wife Christiane Kubrick, several death threats that his family received because of the film.. Kubrick has stated that the film would be released there only after his death. It was.

^^Joe, a young American soldier, is hit by a mortar shell on the last day of World War I. He lies in a hospital bed in a fate worse than death --- a quadruple amputee who has lost his arms, legs, eyes, ears, mouth and nose. He remains conscious and able to think, thereby reliving his life through strange dreams and memories, unable to distinguish whether he is awake or dreaming.

"The Machinist" is a film about a man who hasn't slept in a year, and he starts thinking that he's losing his mind, when he starts seeing hallucinations, and his perception of reality becomes twisted.

The island of Iwo Jima stands between the American military force and the home islands of Japan. Therefore the Imperial Japanese Army is desperate to prevent it from falling into American hands and providing a launching point for an invasion of Japan. General Tadamichi Kuribayashi is given command of the forces on the island and sets out to prepare for the imminent attack. General Kuribayashi, however, does not favor the rigid traditional approach recommended by his subordinates, and resentment and resistance fester among his staff. In the lower echelons, a young soldier, Saigo, a poor baker in civilian life, strives with his friends to survive the harsh regime of the Japanese army itself, all the while knowing that a fierce battle looms. When the American invasion begins, both Kuribayashi and Saigo find strength, honor, courage, and horrors beyond imagination.

most of yall prolly already seen this next one but i seen clockwork orange mentioned and this is by the same director

A two-segment story that follows young men from the start of recruit training in the Marine Corps to the lethal cauldron known as Vietnam. The first segment follows Joker, Pyle and others as they progress through the hell of USMC boot-camp at the hands of the colorful, foul-mouthed Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. The second begins in Vietnam, near Hue, at the time of the Tet Offensive. Joker, along with Animal Mother, Rafterman and others, face threats such as ambush, booby traps, and Viet Cong snipers as they move through the city.

^^That movie goes without saying!!

"One of only two movies rated X on its original release to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards."

What was the other one?
Midnight Cowboy - it won best picture too. The film was given a new "R" (children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian) rating in 1971, without having anything changed or removed.

I didn't like it at all and don't see the appeal of the movie. Would probably get PG-13 if it came out today.
