Following your criteria would force one to call into question the validity of most if not all major historical figures prior to the 20th century.

You're right that there were no contemporary accounts; the accounts came after his death. But the people who knew Jesus were still alive when the accounts were written, and they were willing to DIE for what he taught, and their martyrdoms are very well documented. These people did not just conjure up some myth and then allow themselves to be executed in the worst possible fashion just to fool the masses. Come on. These people were sincere, and their willingness to die, not just one of them but dozens and hundreds, proves to me without a shadow of a doubt the historical fact of Jesus' existence.

Like I said, I won't argue that Jesus is God.
That's a matter of faith.
But I think it's reaching to say he never existed as a historical figure.

I think alot of jesus's teaching are compatible with buddhism. but a lot of religious principles are universal across culture creeds and religions.

good analogy....they run the same course as far as values and beliefs go...im glad you posted that maybe 2-0-sixx will be more sensitive to others beliefs....i am atheist but never make fun of christians...i want my beliefs respected as much as any other....

a better question is why 2-0-sixx expresses his opinions in his fashion.

there may be a significant cause to bring about the effect of what he says.

that cause is may be strong enough to make his opinion more honorable than his nay-sayers.

although some may disagree I don't feel I make fun of christians but I do strongly assert that they should change their perspectives. not for my benefit but for there own. some of there views are obviously harmful. some of there views are life saving.

introspection can provide a better discernment. some people won't discern without provokation. when people contest your views they cause you to take a better look into it.

sensitivity and PC (political correctness) is an answer but not always the best solution
