behind closed doors iran is like america. the clothes, the music, sex, drugs, the works. theres no restrictions, theres no covering up, theres no islamic laws. its about partying and dancing and eating and shit. thats persian culture not muslim culture.
I concur. One of my friends just came back from Iran and he said the youth there is even more "americanized" than the youth in Germany, and that is saying a lot. Everything is very reserved and strict in public, but what goes on behind closed doors is a whole different story. He said that all the young people he met there where either listening to American music, drinking American whiskey, watching Hollywood flicks, you name it. And behind closed doors, the importance of women is almost equal to men. He even told me that during his stay he came across a familiar smell one evening which turned out to be produced by a small weed-growing operation in the basement. He later found out that the woman of the house was actually responsible for this. This, of course, doesn't suffice to portray their society as a whole, but it does show that, at least beyond the public eye, women have way more freedom in Iran than you might have thought.
