More Velvet Please

Velvetism was the tightest shit. I want to see Baby Beesh, Merciless, Don Ciscone, and Jay Tee do a Latino Velvet for the year 2003, serio, wouldn't that be off the hook. Make it happen JayTee, that would be your winning team right there. And of course the Johnny Z production, and definatley get some Happy P beats in there. Orale pues, alrato,

Santos

Hey Jay Tee!
What's up? Well, to be real, the first three CDs are keepers in one way or another, but if I had to rank them, I'd do it like this:

1. Jay Tee/Baby Beesh--Velvetism (classic! 5/5)
2. Free Agents--Negotations (4.5/5)
3. Miami--Collection of Dope (4/5)

VELVETISM was the best overall, in terms of production and song variety. You and Beesh go together well, and the features from Cisco, Frost, etc. fit right in, too. The whole thing's dope, but my favorites are "Vamanos" (both versions), "Same Shit", "They Don't Even Know" (smooth), "On One" (that Miami is a NUT!), "Latin Ladies" (cool beat, great hook), "She Was A Hustler" (great appearance from Mr. Kee), and "Side Show" (something about the production of that song makes me close my eyes and I can picture myself seeing the events taking place. Call me crazy, but that's my view).

On NEGOTIATIONS, I liked "What You Been Lookin' For", "Streets Got No Heart", "All Thru Your Town", "Weight On My Shoulders", "I Been Hustlin'" (both sad and deep) your solo ("The Phone Call"--cool concept), and B-12's "Problem Solver" (he sounds like he's improved since Riderlife's first CD). I thought the CD could have been a little longer, though (Young Dru's solo song, "Custom Tint", was cool, but a little too short). Maybe you could have done remixes for a couple of tunes, like you did on VELVETISM. Dope CD anyway...

MIAMI's COLLECTION OF DOPE was basically a fun CD to get lit and drunk to, IMHO. Even though I already had some of these songs (the Mac Dre stuff, the tunes from THE RUMBLE, etc.), I didn't mind hearing them again, because it's fun trying to catch Miami's crazy comments in the background (which is something you might not have done when you first heard the songs on the main rappers' respective CDs). He's just a character--that's the only way to describe him, and that's meant as a compliment! I would recommend getting VELVETISM and NEGOTIATIONS first, but once you have those, you've gotta get this, too--every real Vallejo Rap collection needs some Miami!

Haven't had a chance to hear PLAYAS ASSOCIATION IV, so I can't critique that one, but I'll probably post an opinion on that here once I do. Sorry this is so long--I hope I haven't bored you. PEACE!

Velvetism

Playa Jay,

I say Velvetism, because that had a lot of Beesh on it. I'd would like to see more songs with Don Cisco, Beesh, and Mercilless, this combo is unfadeable: The new Latino Velvet: Jay Tee, Beesh, Don Cisco, and Merciless, now thats whats really.

Free Agents had the beats that reminded me of Back to the Hotel and the lyrics were the sickest from Jay Tee, B-12, and Young Dru. "Knock a Hoe" is played my voicemail...

Free Agents.... the whole cd was straight knock. And even though theres nothing wrong with B-12, boy got flos, I would like to see a Young Dru Jay-tee colab album. Jay Tee, You got The laid back pimpish spit down to a science and Young Drus unique voice and delivery gives makes any song tight.
To be honest, I havent listened to velvetism, but velvet city is a 4.5/5 album!
Im also loving all the production, especially mark 7 and Johnny Z beats!
Keep doing your thang JayTee!

Velvetism no doubt

I think that most will agree that Beesh is the ticket homie, can't go wrong with that sav.

Free Agents was no doubt one of the sickest also, I'm bumping that right now, along with that Suga Suga joint by Bash and Frankie J.

I would definately like to see another free agents drop.

Miami's joint was sick with it too. I was feeling it. That fool is funny.
