That smaller gloves shit is for the birds. People get knocked out when they don't know a punch is going to hit them and they get blasted with one. I've seen Diaz go down from punches that were sent Western Union .. now imagine a top level boxer who's trained his entire life on how to get maximum leverage from their body to make their glove slam your chin without you knowing it's about to happen.

This is as uninteresting to me as the James Toney fight. Diaz would get KOd, not by cuts, knocked out unconscious or TKOd from not be able to stand properly. It's a completely different game. Props to him wanting to get into it, but do it correctly. Get some actual boxing under your wing against guys you should beat and see what happens. Step instantly in the deep end and he'll get done in easily.

Maybe it got changed to private after all the bad reviews across the internet. I am a Nick Diaz fan, big time, easily one of my favorite MMA fighters and even I was not happy after seeing that vid. I know it is only sparring and only one vid, but if someone had to judge his pure boxing skills off of that video, he would get like a real low review and I cannot imagine this helping him get a top boxing fight like he wants.

and the problem with Diaz is the whole reason for him to box is to make big money, more than what he's currently making. Obviously he's not going to make the big money fighting some tomato cans, he's looking for a big fight. Which means he'll get battered.

Jeff Lacy says they are currently negotating and it could come together within the next couple months....we'll see.

JEFF LACY WILLING TO FIGHT MMA'S NICK DIAZ

By Big Time Timmy Kudgis

"This is like taking candy from a baby"

Recently we have heard rumblings that mixed martial artist Nick Diaz was looking to take a leave of absence from the UFC octgaon in order to return to boxing's squared cricle (Diaz won a four-round boxing match by unanimous decision in 2005). Diaz says he wants a high-profile boxer, and ex-IBF chyampion Jeff Lacy is the name on the top of his list. Boxingtalk sat down with Lacy to get his side of the story.

BT: Jeff, I was shocked to see recently in the news that Nick Diaz wants to step in the ring with you?

JL: Just like you, I was shocked! There is truth to it too. We are negoiating the fight, and it could be coming up in the next couple months.

BT: This fight will be taking place in the Boxing ring, correct?

JL: It is going to be boxing, they are stepping over. MMA is stepping over to the boxing ring for this show.

BT: I look back at Ray Mercer vs. Tim Slyvia which was supposed to be Tim's boxing debut, but the [local boxing] commission said no since he never had a pro boxing bout. Do you think something like that could affect your fight?

JL: I think they can get around that being he is a professional fighter. I am sure a lot of things have changed since then. If anything was to come about, they just did [an MMA] fight with James Toney [Editor's note: Toney got destroyed]. James Toney was not a pro MMA fighter but they let that go.

BT: The premise of this match-up is exciting.

JL: I am so excited about this fight. You hear the talk about MMA and boxing. The thing about it is, I like the sport and I love boxing. You tend to always hear comments about how MMA is better than boxing. In an MMA fight, when they are striking, it's boxing. When they are striking everybody is excited but when they touch the ground there is a lull in the action. People say boxing is going away, no it is just a different method. MMA is wrestling plus boxing, but the most excited people get is when the fighters are standing up. If you put the right fights in boxing, the excitement will be there. It is not exactly exciting watching two guys who have trained so long start wrestling on the ground, but at the same time I like the sport for it's striking.

BT: What are your thoughts on Diaz thinking he can transition easily from MMA to Boxing?

JL: He thinks he can do what I have been doing for over 25 years. I don't know what he is thinking. That is why I am excited to see this fight happen.

BT: Would you ever consider fighting him in MMA?

JL: We would have to see how it goes, seriously I wouldn't mind fighting him in his game and make this a trilogy. He called me out though, so he would have to step in my office this time.

BT: In closing, do you have anything else to say to the BoxingTalk.com readers today?

JL: I am very excited about this fight coming up. We are negotiating and trying to put this together. I have basically never been so excited about a fight. The way I look at it this is like taking candy from a baby. It's a novice fighter taking on an elite fighter, so stay tuned.

BT: Thanks for your time.

JL: No problem.

An exec with UFC said Nick was going to fight GSP in december so the Lacy fight was off, then Chargin said it was off, then the other day Dana White said Nick isn't fighting GSP so I have no idea what's happening. But DW's a liar so you never know.
And Henry's a boxer that wants to crossover like what KJ Noons does.

i know all about henreys boxing career but wasn't sure if he's officially going into mma or what. he hasn't fought in over a year. he could have made good money in boxing but started hanging out with celebrities and it got to his head, then top rank let him go cuz of all the shit he was doing.

the diaz situation sounds like a mess
