I think the biggest problem for fans is that everybody wants to BE underground. You get an underground lable, and they put an artist out who sells his 6000 or 7000 copies. Then, that artist is like, fuck it,I'll start my own shit and blow the fuck up,and get all the money myself. Then the artist he puts on does the same shit, and so on,and so on.All this does is push back street dates, and basically keeps a rapper out of the spotlight for 2 or 3 years, besides some features here n there. It also seems to keep the quality of the album below par,as in the mixing and mastering aspect of it.Because everytime albums drop out here,it's coming from somebody with no experience in making a quality c.d..
There just seems to be to much inconsistency in the westcoast rap game right now.Everyone wants to blow up NOW,and they put out a c.d. that sounds like it was made in a bathroom stall.
We need quality shit.:eyecross:

a lot of the so called artists on this site are responsible for shit like that. It's cool and all that vamps/siccness.net supports the underground but STOP supporting garbage. Just because it's underground doesn't mean its tight and I think people know a piece of shit cd when they hear one. So stop worrying about hurtin fools feelings and tell them the truth. THEY SUCK.

Those are examples of underground lables that have had success,or in KVE's case, are still having success, because it was somewhat of a team working together. It was'nt that,I'm only in it for me attitude that's fucked up the game. This is from a fans perspective.I can understand someone wanting to be tha main man though.

Believe you me... after doing a radio show for a while you realize the size of the egos of some of these underground rappers. GOOD LORD! Telling them their music isnt tight is like a personal shot on their character. Industry people do not take constructive criticism well... they are too "hard" or "gangsta" to hear any of that shit. Just think about how much that can be applied to rappers on this site... .jeez its sad.

As a rule, I always try to leave my ego at the house. When I'm in the streets nothing feels better than reaching out and getting face to face with the people who appreciate my music. My label is pretty much a one man show on the business side of it. However, on the creative end it's always a collaborative effort that ALWAYS envolves feedback from the fans. You can't please everybody with your music but it's important to stay grounded. I agree with you, BAMMER. But technology has made it easy for anybody to do this music thang. Therefore, any and everybody will try. It's important as an artist to be able to accept constructive criticism and at the same time disregard the haterism and bullshit.

Yes my friend you are correct. People are willing to cut corners and throw half-ass shit out just to say they did it themselves. They need to research and learn more before they make a poor choice and throw a poorly mixed non mastered cd out.

I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITHT HT STATEMENT. It's underground labels like Fillmoe Coleman/Million Dollar Dream, Done Deal Ent., Rap-A-Lot, etc. that are keeping this rap shit alive. And its gonna have t be Enimem and Aftermath/Shady Records to keep rap on the map with 50 Cents Obie Trice, etc, because even though their rap doesnt appeal to everyone on this board, its rap, and Rap on the RADIO is DEAD.

Sure there are labels that suck and put out bullshit, and rappers are gonna have to find a way to shut down their shops, but in the meantime Iwill still support that underground shit, cause Ja and Jay Z and Nelly just aint doin it for me.

^^ Like the man said OG ms rap on the radio is dead that bullshit aint rapp. Bammer theres always been hella underground that sucked shit there's hella mainstream that suck , example all the people MS just named. Just my opinion! I agree that now its alot more but you can't knock a man for trying to get some of the money since if he only moves 6000- to 7000 units on an underground label their only gonna pay him peanuts and he's the one making them money. I understand him wanting to benefit from his own talent and teaching his artist to do the same.

I think homies talkin about the labels that pop up overnight and all the artists on them can't rap for shit. Everyone knows that fillmoe coleman, mdd, done deal ent, & especially rap-a-lot are tight and no ones complainin about THOSE labels and a lot of other tight underground labels. Just the ones that don't have any talent.

thats real homie, and more and more ppl gonna do it until they fail but in a rapper eyes if they homie love it then the a succsess, which is dumb but thr truth, in the end it lowers all our standards for the music and lets the east coast dominate the underground, until we do sumin ta stop it, like suport the label #1, then artist #2. to many ppl jock the artist when in the end and the begiing its the label that made it happen!

i understand what yall are sayin bout this shit. cause it is gettin outrageous. i know alotta artistz that didn't learn enough bout the bussiness, and feel they should start their own label, since they were cheated before. and everybody thinks they can rap, and have their own label. itz coo to be in the music game and just be a CEO or manager, but rapping, production, etc. aint for everybody. and since itz easy to downoad programs and make shit on yo computer you'll see more & more peep doin it.
and as far as people supporting music that suck's, all that shitz true. i also rap, and when i play my shit to someone i want them to tell me if my shitz garbage, or not.

I'm feelin this topic, but I can't knock nobody for trying. As you can see, some people will buy anything

Big Robb is right. A lot of artists don't realize everything that goes into making a record successful from a label standpoint. Fuck it, let em try this shit out and spend they own bread and see if they sink or swim... most will sink
