Guillard's boxing is some of the slickest I've seen in MMA. Great head movement, and footwork, and he doesn't take a long time to unload some power shots.

Got caught in the guillotine, but he was definitely winning the fight.

Exciting night of FREE fights for sure.

well guillard did leave the ufc for a little while and took some fights in some smaller shows. he won those and came back. he is pretty young (26) and i think ufc likes his potential. in all his losses hes doing good before he makes that one mistake and gets choked.

yea, i think he was quoted as sayin somethin to the extent of he doesnt have to train bjj, he doesnt have to train to submit, he jus has to train on NOT gettin submitted. seems like it aint workin. i remember he was doin real good against, I THINK, rich clementi (sp?) when clementi choked him out also. he would do real good if he leveled down his ego and trained on the ground. fold.

Melvin's had this same chip on shoulder since he was in high school and couldn't fight all that good.

Pat was telling me a story about how Melvin came into the gym about a year or so after Melvin first got into the UFC and started talking all kinds of madness. Asked if he could spar with Pat and Pat said go ahead. Pat noticed that Melvin started putting on all the light shin pads and gloves and didn't think much of it considering Pat's about 220. Apparently Melvin tried to start going hard for no reason and when they paused started talking all kinds of shit and when they went back at it Pat crushed him with a liver kick that left him down for like 5 minutes.

.. also Melvin isn't from the streets of New Orleans .. he's from the streets of Kenner.
