yeah that should be a good one, giving Beltran a little edge just because he takes shots better than Big Lavar. Really only looking forward to that fight plus Sonnen and Russow-JOE

Munoz out at UFC on FOX 2; Bisping vs. Sonnen now set for shot at champ Silva

Mark Munoz's shot at UFC gold will have to wait.

UFC president Dana White today announced via Twitter an injury has forced Munoz to withdraw from a planned UFC on FOX 2 meeting with Chael Sonnen (26-11-1 MMA, 5-4 UFC), who now meets British slugger Michael Bisping (22-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) instead.

The two clash on the FOX televised main card of this month's "UFC on FOX 2: Evans vs. Davis" event, which takes Jan. 28 at Chicago's United Center.

"Munoz is injured and out of the FOX fight," White posted via Twitter. "Now it's Chael Sonnen vs. Mike Bisping Jan. 28, and the winner will fight Anderson for the title."

Bisping, who recently served as a coach on "TUF 14," had been expected to face Demian Maia (15-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC). The Brit dominated fellow coach Jason "Mayhem" Miller at December live finale in Las Vegas. He ultimately scored a third-round TKO victory of Miller, who quickly faded in the five-round non-title fight. Bisping has now won four straight fights and five of his past six (all in the UFC).

Sonnen, of course, has been seeking a rematch with current champion Anderson Silva since posting a UFC 136 destruction of Brian Stann. But with the champ slowed by a shoulder injury, the outspoken showman instead will look for his fifth win in six fights when he takes on Bisping.

It's currently unclear if Maia will remain on the card. Additionally, a timetable for Munoz's return was not established.

lol fuck yeah I went from not caring to calling in a favor to see if I can get a suite for this shit. And they're already talking shit.

Bisping: "Chael Sonnen’s best weapon is his mouth, and that’s something that’s going to be absolutely useless in this fight. I see a very bright future for Chael Sonnen as a used car salesman very soon."
Sonnen: "I am going to knock the teeth out of this snot nosed Brit who calls himself royalty, who calls himself a Count. I am MMA royalty and America will tune into the Chael Sonnen show next Saturday on FOX."

Probably the best thing to happen for Munoz. He was going to get sodomized by Chael. That's coming from a Munoz fan.

I like this fight better anyways. Plus, the buildup for this will be better, as we can see already from the exchanges between Bisbing and Sonnen.

USA! USA! USA!

in case the brehs wanna read it, Chris Weidman steps in to face Demian Maia at UFC on

Undefeated middleweight prospect Chris Weidman will get a shot to fight on network TV.

UFC president Dana White today announced that Weidman will meet Demian Maia at this month's UFC on FOX 2 event.

Weidman fills a spot opened when Maia's original opponent, Michael Bisping, was pulled to replace an injured Mark Munoz and face Chael Sonnen, also at UFC on FOX 2.

Weidman and Maia now meet on the FOX-televised main card of this month's "UFC on FOX 2: Evans vs. Davis" event, which takes place Jan. 28 at Chicago's United Center.

Weidman returns to action for the first time since earning a technical-submission win over Tom Lawlor at November's UFC 139 event. The win was the Serra-Longo product's third under the UFC banner. A former two-time All-American Division I wrestler at Hofstra, Weidman has earned seven straight wins to open his professional career.

Maia, a Brazilian submission specialist, is 3-1 since an unsuccessful bid at middleweight champion Anderson Silva's title in early 2010, and the lone defeat came via decision to Munoz. Most recently, Maia topped Jorge Santiago at UFC 136 to rebound from the loss.
