rousey: utterly one dimensional
holly: somewhat better but still relatively one dimensional. i mean she got grounded once, deflected a couple takedowns, then got grounded and choked. 50% defense rate vs ground game lol wtf
Rousey is hella one dimesional. Holly aint. i mean she dont go looking for takedowns and subs but she stuffed all Tates except 2 and she stuffed Rouseys judo toss and armbar attempt. so her takedown defense is relatively good. as far as her stand up, she has some of the most technical boxing in her division and real good kick boxing. she's about as well rounded as some of the best fighters, male or female. most fighters excell in 1 area or 2 and get by in other areas.

fighters like TJ Dillashaw and Michelle Waterson are examples of exceptionally rounded fighters. technical and fantastic everywhere. theres not many of those.

I always thought this is a bitch ass move by fighters. Really poor sportsmanship considering it could literally end a career. No respect for that kind of shit. Luckily it didn't have a negative impact.
Bones/Jackson Camp are the ones who made it popular. I think the commissions are going to wait until someone blows their knee out before they do anything about it.

Holy shit that's fuckin dirty. Didn't see that. Not only could it end a career, it could end your ability to function as a normal human being just walking around

Bones and Holly Holm are the best at that. it could fuck your career and your ability to walk, but these fighters literally get their body beat to shit for a living head to toe. it's not much worse, physically, then getting elbows to the head imo.

and leg locks are totally legal and just as dangerous.

you can tap to a leglock before there's any damage (no paul harris), there's no tapping when your knee gets hyperextended from a kick
yeah most likely you aint going to get fucked in a lock lock if you tap fast enough, or the aggressor isnt fast/strong as fuck, or the ref notices the tap (Brock vs Mir I). but the shit's still dangerous as fuck. it's not even legal through out the combat sport world. armbars and chokes are pretty much always legal. but again, these fighters get beat from head to toe. a 12-6 elbow is illegal while a 11-5 or 1-7 bo is perfectly ok.

kneeing to the head while the opponents hand touches the ground is illegal, but the millisecond the hand stops touching the ground its open season. i think even foot stomps use to be illegal in UFC. the last few years i only really seen Nick Diaz and Paige VanZant use them.

i think they may eventually ban the oblique kick but you rarely see anybody using it except Holly and Bones. and its not like these other dudes who got vicious Muay Thai whips wont hyperextend your knee. they ain't going to ban those. the sport is dangerous.

Ask any fighter if they would prefer getting elbowed in the head or potentially break their leg from a kick like that. You hear the same stuff from NFL players about how they would rather risk getting a concussion versus getting their leg blown out (high vs low tackle, etc).

We all know fighters are warriors who put their bodies and lives on the line but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be some protection, and there is already, plenty of rules in the sport to protect the fighters. We want fighters to have lengthy careers when possible, not cut short due to some cheap shit.

I just don't see any kind of logical defense for this. I mean think about it, what of he broke Diaz' leg here? He's the better fighter because he pulled a cheap move? Nah, we saw the end result so it obviously would have been a tragic if that's how it ended. The sport will be fine without moves like this. And I understand what you're saying in the other post, how some things are legal and others not when it's a super fine line and perhaps doesn't always make a lot of sense, however I think this is a particularly clear cut example of something that shouldn't be allowed.

Rampage Jackson said his knees were never the same after fighting Jon Jones because of those knee kicks. Shit is hot garbage. Every single time a fighter throws one even Joe Rogan says something like "a lot of people think they should be outlawed".

The problem is it would be hard to regulate because you would have to have literal kick placement regulation so that would probably kill regular leg kicks too and we can't do that.
