Machida should have this one hand's down. Then again there's always the MMA factor, so I wouldn't be too surprised if Shogun slips one in for a KO.

I'm really not sure how it's gonna play out. Shogun's got a chin and a half so I'm not sure if Machida can KO him, I'd guess they're about equal on the ground. In the clinch Shogun has his MT and Machida has his trips. On paper it's even, basing it on their last three fights I have to pick Machida. They're two of my favorite LHW's so I won't be upset with either winning.

If Pride Shogun shows up this could be fight of the year

Tough fight to call, based on Machida's last few performances, it would be tough to pick against him. I'm on the fence for this one for sure.

Can't wait though, I'll be in the nosebleeds for this fight! LOL...

Im still not convinced Rua could last a whole 3 round fight. I do like his abilities in the cage but his conditioning is nowhere near Machidas and for that Machida in 3rd. Ill be rooting for Shogun....

See, that's another thing...this fight will be 5 rounds. I doubt this one goes the distance though.

Shogun does have a advantage that all Machida's other opponents did not have which is that they trained with each other back when Shogun was still at Chute Boxe. Machida has evolved as a fighter since then and is untouchable right now but this is MMA and anything can happen.

I'm torn ...

For one, I like the idea of Machida as champ because he's (at his core) a defensive fighter. It feels like he's actually defending the title when he fights which is kind of ill to me.

On the other hand, I want to see what it takes to beat him. I'm not hoping he loses, I'm just curious as to what it's going to take.

If Shogun can't do it, I don't know who does. I can see Rashad changing his gameplan up and maybe being successful if he gets another shot. Thiago Silva is wack, so I don't see him doing it. Randy? Nah. Tito? Nah. Bahna? Maybe, but Soko was giving him problems until he gassed...
