My Thoughts on the Album
Here they are, my favorite tracks:
Intro - Awesome chill beat with great singing in the background, who is that singing? It's hot, very soulful.
Cocc It & Shoot - Reminds me of "2 People" from Skunt's album because of the soul sample, singing, deliberate, paitent lyrics. Great use of the Zapp & Roger Troutman beat, D-Sane just jazzes it up with a little more base. 151's was my favorite verse, he knows just the perfect speed to rap to, he doesn't rush it like a lot of guys would do.
44 Bars (From...) - "Let me tell you where I'm (FROM) THE S-E-A, where gang banging and police raids is at its highest rate." That line is hot, right off the bat telling you this song is going to bang, I love how it's the first line of the song, like Ichiro going yard to lead off the game today, same idea. The "From" inserts were used perfectly, who is that singing???? The beat is very good but to me, what makes this track is that it's the best Twin spits on the whole album. He ripped it.
Phedyridas (Remix) - SLR fans will love this b/c it is a hard dark D-Sane beat. Big Syke on the hook is amazin the way his voice works. One thing that I have a hard time with is Yukmouth's verse right off the bat, I gotta be honest, I think it's pretty bad. His timing is horrible he doesn't ride the beat he seems like he's trying to challenge it. But that verse is only about 40 seconds long, the rest of the song is hot. Other verses are spit great. This song is perfect to bump when you're driving up I-5 with the town rolling by.
You Don't Know Twin Game - First I like the concept of this song a lot, fuck the people who don't know you but want to judge. Twin also raps to the pace of the song, it's a little slower and quieter. You all going to get in trouble for using that tune and the Keyes sample without permission???
I'm So Fresh - D-Sane beat but a little bit chill for him. I like the percussion instrument used, it claps nicely, that little effect is my favorite part of the song. Twin's great on this track, especially the chorus. It's too god damn short though, 2:40 c'mon now. I also like how the "I'm so Fresh" echoes out the final 10 seconds.
