After Episode No. 1 of "The Ultimate Fighter 10: Heavyweights" set a slew of Spike TV ratings records, Wednesday night's Episode No. 3 set the bars even higher.
According to Spike TV, 6.1 million viewers tuned in to watch the elimination bout between Roy Nelson and Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson, and the show drew an average of 5.3 million viewers.
That number makes Wednesday's broadcast the most-watched episode of an original series in the six-year history of the channel, eclipsing the 4.1 million viewers garnered by the first episode of "TUF 10" just two weeks ago.
The series' previous high was the 2.8 million viewers who tuned in for the "TUF 3" premiere in 2006.
Dominating in the key male demographics of ages 18-24, 18-34, 18-49 and 25-34, "The Ultimate Fighter" was also the most-watched show of all persons male and female aged 18-34, earning 2.7 million viewers in that demographic for a 4.7 rating.
The peak of 6.1 million viewers makes the Nelson vs. Slice bout the highest-rated UFC programming ever on Spike TV. The previous mark was 5.9 million viewers for the Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Dan Henderson main-event bout of UFC 75 in September 2007.
According to Spike TV, the repeat directly following Wednesday's debut of Episode No. 3 also drew 1.5 million viewers, earning the episode a combined audience of 6.8 million viewers.
Spike TV is available in 98.6 million homes.
