the first one was hokey and pretty ridiculous, but even in 1982 those graphics were unheard of.

Tron Trivia fact:

The original Tron, while a bomb at the box office, having THE State of the art Graphics & FX for 1982 (or many years to follow), was not nominated for an academy award for Special Effects because the Academy looked upon the project as a cheat for using computers and thus it was not nominated.
