Gaslamp Shooting Leaves One Dead, Two Wounded
SAN DIEGO -- A woman was fatally shot Sunday and two men were wounded when a gunman opened fire into a crowd amid a fight in San Diego's Gaslamp District.
The shooting at Fifth Avenue and E Street happened about 2 a.m. as several people were fighting, and the gunman got away, San Diego police Lt. Terry McManus said.
A 21-year-old woman was taken to a hospital and died of her wounds about 2:30 a.m., McManus said. Her name was withheld pending notification of her next of kin.
Two men, 26 and 34 years old, also were shot and taken to a local hospital. Their names and conditions were unavailable, but police said both should live.
The shooter was described as a black man with a medium complexion, about 21 years old, about 6 feet 1 inch, with a thin build and hair about a half inch long. He was wearing a black, hooded sweat shirt and dark-colored jeans.
