no, I think alot of you don't understand...people here including me don't believe that they should have killed the clam in the name of science. And ThaG makes it seem like that as well, saying shit like we wouldn't have known it was the oldest clam in the world if we (science/scientist) didn't kill it. It's a difference in priorities, some believe science trumps all cuz science helps humanity, and some believe that science sometimes hider humanity and the planet in it's quest for greater knowledge, whatever.

ThaG, you didn't answer why the scientist killed the clams. I'm confused, you said they were killing clams because of some science shit, then you said they didn't kill the old clam in the name of science, so all I wanna know is what homeboys was doin. On another note -even though I dont agree with that clam shit- the other stuff this year is tight.

In October, researchers from Bangor University in Wales were trawling an ocean shelf off the coast of north Iceland when they stumbled on what is believed to be the world's oldest living animal: a 405 year-old clam.
they were trawling, they got the clam out the ocean, they killed it and counted the rings...

they killed it accidentally,, it was not intentional and it was not worth the 20 posts of bitching about how evil scientists are...

there are probably thousands of clams that are older than this one but nobody caught them
