I'm gettin tired of this shit as a fan!! I understand why some of u are doing them. You are trying to show what you can do with a budget with good production. So you are showing off what you can do over those popular mainstream beats. Of course you've seen examples like Lil Flip and 50 cent blow up after their mixtapes. Out of all the mixtapes the Done Deal Fam is put together the best because it's hosted by big von and mixed by a real dj(mind motion) I recognized all of the beats except Nite and Day, Chuck where's that beat from???? Cellski has got better with every mix so far. With the exception of those two, I don't see why everyone is doing these mixes. I think they need to get their names out there more and establish themselves as one of the top rappers out here. Me as a fan would like to see some of the original beats included at the least. San Quinn and the done deal fam gets good production from mr. sirate and icy mike, along with sean t every now and then. Cellski is one of the best producers in the bay in my opinion. I would much rather buy a cd with original beats along with a few sampled songs, u feel me? This mixtape thing is getting way out of hand! Chuck, Cellski, A-Wax or whoever the fuck, can't u see where i'm comin from, who else is feelin me here?

so u don't think there's too many mixtapes out now. you are a fan of bay area rap, don't you like to here real cd's with their own beats. If you read the context, you would've seen that I understand why they're doing them but I would rather see one or two sampled songs and some new shit!!!! that's all

Damn Yeah i can see the over saturation, it does kinda of make me not wanna do anymore but the problem is they are all pretty much Done, and All The Djs want To do them, so.. fuck it, but I feel like niggas wasnt checking for you before you took some major beats, then maybe your rapping is the problem, i dunno.. Thats us (The Bay) we take something and run it in the ground!

We, KVE, did ours for a few reasons, but one good reason is to open the ears of ppl, that dont listen to underground music, which is a big part of the population, to listen to us by capturing the attenion with a main stream beat

That's real talk right there. I would put em out chuck. Robb at KVE i'm feelin u too. I do agree with Bay is the sco though. I'm a fuckin fan and i'd rather see some tight cd's with a few sampled songs on it and mabye those dj's could play those sampled songs on the radio like they do at kmel to get these rappers' names out there ya dig. That's all i'm sayin and i'm out.

i just don't feel people selling mixtapes for over $8.00...im not buying a cd that has less than half the effort of a regular cd for the full price of a cd. plus i wanna hear homegrown beats...i don't listen 2 the hoe ass radio anyway.

Well said Chuck.

My thoughts on the mixtape fad are that it is a good promotional tool but we shouldn't try to make a gang of bread ff of it. Sell the mix a reasonable price (like Done Deal, Cellski and others have done) or give it away free (like Arsen, Cane and KVE have done).

The positive thing about mixtapes is that it gives a consumer the opportunity to hear alot more new talent with out such a big risk. It also can help an artist get recognition from the industry. The Bay's biggest problem is that a mixtape is just a compilation now. We need to have more original music and exclusive tracks as well as ACTUAL mixes like Done Deal has and like we did with Frisco Legends and Frost's Raza Radio.

Whatever the case may be I think the Bay will continue making mixes because it is an inexpensive way to get your music heard. But if we are going to taken serious ona national level like New York or Phily's mixes then we need real DJ's making series out of them and geting them heard at clubs and at radio and not just record labels doing it for profit.

My opinion. Peace.

well my favorite mixtapes in the bay has to be them Mad Idiot mixtapes. The Cellski mixtape has exclusive tracks with flip and 50 cent and stuff from his new upcoming projects so thats ok. mad idiot mixtapes are the best and who else feels me on that. i work for a major label and sometimes i get them for free so its cool and it always got excuslive unrleased tracks and all.

Chuck, BigRobb, silent one, & B12....said it the best...

reason why WE do ours is for free promotion..plus its so easy for us....its nothing. a great tool to keep your name in the streets....it gives a consumer the opportunity to hear alot more new talent with out such a big risk.

and if ya'll want to hear good quality music while these mixtapes drop cop that new PERVELOUS P CAMP APRIL 29TH feat. DEVIN THE DUDE, the the TRENCH TOWN HUSTLAZ, ARSEN & MISTA CANE GROUP ALBUM, Y.B., G.A.S. man we have a tight line up! but while these albums are being worked on...your going to continue seeing mixtape after mixtape......and no our mixtapes are not compilations.....if you havent heard we formed an ALLIANCE
SERVNU151 MUSIC/ANNIHILATION ENT./EPIC CENTER/EXPLISIC ENT./PERVELOUS P ENT.
WHAT I BELIEVE WE ALL SHOULD DO ON THIS SIDE!
COME TOGETHER......

To me the problem with mixtapes is they cost too much... On the East Coast mixtapes are hella cheaper than they are out here... I don't think a mixtape should cost more than $5-$10... They're supposed to be for promo... Artists aren't paying for beats, so why should they cost very much? I think that's the attitude of a lot of the fans and they're feeling ripped off...

I think mixtapes are a great idea if you do it right... One of the artists I'm working with is doing a mixtape, and we're gonna hand all of em out free... I think it'll help us a lot.

the beats are the best part of bay rapping... i want to hear real shit, not some freestyle crap.
see what i'm saying here. me and this nigga are just some fans that don't want to see yall niggas keep puttin out mixtapes til something happens. Any cd that done deal or cellski drops i will probably pick it up. i want to hear some of those tight beats to go with the lyrics. i feel yall niggas though(robb, chuck, arsen, a-wax, cellski and everybody doin it though.
