I noticed that too. From what I understand the segment was edited pretty heavily. I assume that reaction might have been from something else and poorly edited into the show.

Here are some news and notes regarding TNA's ECW-themed PPV on August 8th:

- It appears that Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn is a lock to main event.

- Johnny Swinger is expected to appear on the show, possibly in a tag-team match with former partner Simon Diamond.

- There is interest in Justin Credible but nothing has been confirmed at this point.

- There is talk about airing sit-down interviews with former ECW stars in between matches.

- The pay for non-contracted wrestlers is said to be around $500-$1,000.

- It is also rumored that TNA will do some ECW-style house shows in markets where ECW was most popular.

Mikey Whipwreck just got hired by WWE for some off camera type shit. Good for him, considering he started as a dude working for free building the ECW ring.

Why? He went from being some guy to holding every ECW championship.
Sabu and a bunch of other wrestlers have held all of ecws titles.... they had what? 3 belts?

Just because whipwreck went from being ring crew to wrestler in ECW when it was a slightly smaller company doesnt mean he should be in the HOF

NoDQ.com > TNA > Latest news on the ECW storyline and Paul Heyman
Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 07/22/2010 at 04:57 PM

Credit: F4WOnline.com

Sources indicate that in a recent meeting with TNA President Dixie Carter, Paul Heyman emphasized he didn’t believe in drastic changes, bur rather the way to go is with new talent as the key stars while using a few veterans to give them credibility, not unlike how he used Terry Funk in the original ECW. Ironically, Heyman did not support the idea of an ECW invasion when it was brought up, yet Carter went ahead and did it anyway, plugging Tommy Dreamer into the role that essentially would have belonged to Heyman (both on-screen and behind the scenes).

Heyman is also said to have told Carter to her face that of the older legends they have under contract, she could keep one and get rid of the others, and she didn’t seem to understand why. Carter has been loyal to the stars of the past and has been resistant to giving anyone the authority to hire or fire people. This includes Vince Russo and even Jim Ross, back when they were making a serious play for him.

While the Heyman deal is cold, it is nowhere close to being dead. TNA sees Heyman’s asking for points in the company as merely a negotiating tactic and is still hopeful a deal can be reached.

Eh I don't think you guys get it. That's cool though... To each his own.

I haven't seen a segment like that in a min. I don't know what wrestling you've been watching that was as real as what TNA brought tonight, but... ::shrug::

If anything it's refreshing to see honesty on televised wrestling, IMO. And for the record, it's not as if the ECW thing they did with WWE was really what ECW wanted. That shit was dope, for what it was... But it was very WWE.

Dixi has no idea what she is doing, she rushed this whole thing and if Haymen doesnt come in and save it its going to be TNA talent jobbing to old ECW vets.

Honesty? really? I just heard a promo from Dixie talkin about how ECW was in the 90's and how Hogan was in the 80's as if that dumb cunt was a real fan back in the day...and Tommy Dreamer with the fake cry baby act? and it ended with Tommy and Dixie agreeing to hold a ppv together, some cliffhanger to make me wanna watch next week

NoDQ.com > TNA > Former ECW star turns down TNA
Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 07/24/2010 at 02:49 PM

Lance Storm posted the following on stormwrestling.com:

I was hoping to write a bigger article about the TNA: ECW Themed PPV, because I am getting bombarded with questions, but I've got a very busy schedule for the next week, so I'll just address this here and now.

I was asked if I would be interested in taking part in the TNA: One Last Stand PPV. I think it was big of them to extend me the offer, considering my general opinion of the TNA product, and want to I thank them for that, but I will not be taking part.

I feel it would be hypocritical of me to work the show, considering my out outspoken views of the TNA product. I have a great deal of respect for the boys who will be working the show as well as the great workers on the TNA roster, but I have no desire to be a part of the TNA creative process. As for ECW, One Night Stand in 2005 was my farewell and am content in letting sleeping dogs lie.
