I heard they brought back a handful of people. not sure who, but yeah.... the only way this angle is going to be any good is if Haymen comes in and takes 100% control

NoDQ.com > TNA > Interesting note about the ECW storyline idea
Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 07/12/2010 at 04:23 PM

"The reason TNA has been going with the idea of doing an ECW faction is due to the fact that a focal group determined that fans were favorable towards ECW, and had fond memories of the promotion. According to Dave Meltzer, an interesting note is that the focal group surveyed fans in Philadelphia, PA of all places."

WOOOOO go philly

They're saying the reason it's been dragging on so much is because they're waiting for the Heyman deal to work out.
So far its Tommy Dreamer, Raven, Scotty Richards, and some other guy.
Rhyno.

Wait to see Foley in on the angle too.

Hopefully they bring in Sandman.

Don't complain about one thing then complain about the other. If you don't like your PG rating, then watch TNA. Don't then watch TNA and complain that ECW is becoming involved. If you don't want to watch "old guys" whether they wrestle or not, then watch WWE and shut the fuck up about it.

Otherwise watch out-of shape generic Japanese guys kick each other in the face and call the fucking matches yourself if you need to know who the heel is.

Damn.

People want to see established stars. It's not like Jack Nicholson is less dope because he's not the same age as when he filmed Cookoo's Nest. Did you watch Balboa or Rambo? Are you planning on seeing The Expendables? I honestly don't give a fuck how old the guy is. If Hogan can still be Hogan when he's 80, I'll watch. How are you going to tell me that a guy is too old and washed up to continue acting just as poorly as he did 20 years ago just because he doesn't go into the ring, drop the same 4-5 spots, then a boot? Do you honestly miss Hogan's in ring skills?

Some of you guys just like to run your mouths most of the time. It's not as if having older wrestling guys involved in the newer aspect of the business is a NEW thing. It's always been like that. I hate to break it to you, but Ric Flair was old 20 YEARS AGO. You just now realized that he's too old to wrestle? Honestly, his ring work hasn't hurt much, since he still does the same 3 spots he always did.

Hogan was fucking old in the NWO. Terry Funk has wrestled longer, out of retirement, then he ever did before the first time he retired, and he's a legend among wrestlers. Shit Mick Foley could hardly ever wrestle, really. Not to mention how broken down he was when he was at his most popular in WWE. Were you guys complaining about how old he was? I doubt it.

All you said was "Ha, that guys next to the Rock, the Rock is funny... Smell what he's cooking.. huh huh."

So why the fuck is everyone complaining now?

whats your problem with jap wrestling dude? Who are all these out of shape and generic people you speak of in Puro?

Just because someone is an established star doesnt mean they should still be in the ring. I dont want to see old out of shape people botch spots in slow motion. Sure hogan can still cut a promo like Hogan but that doesnt mean he should still try to wrestle. Hogan and flair have been sucking for a very long time I dont remember anyone here saying that hogan or flair has put on a good match in forever. If an old star can come back and still put on a good match then thats a different story... foley could do that very late into his career, Funk could pull out the occasional decent match and funk wrestling in and out of retirement doesnt mean anything. He did that his whole career starting with his first retirement in 83

you really need to calm down, man :ermm:

I see the type of point your saying, but if people really wanted to see those "established stars" like RVD, Hogan, Flair etc, why is it that they had countless ratings under .9 and even a low ass .5? and had to realize that formula was not working, which obviously made them move back to Thursdays. And comparing hollywood actors to WRESTLING athletes is different. I think most of us actually do NOT want to see an 80 yr old hogan wrestle. It would make people like me feel more stupid for even watching wrestling in the first place if I were to see an 80 yr old man beating the shit out of a young 25-30 yr old wrestler.

Man I'm just pokin' at ya, and at the same time pokin' at the people who complain that they don't know who to cheer for. It was a jab on both ends. Relax.
I think most of us actually do NOT want to see an 80 yr old hogan wrestle.
I never said he should wrestle. But I'd put on an 80 year old Hogan match before I'll watch a Divas match, so why aren't people complaining about that shit every other post? Everyone around here complains about EVERYTHING. I mean, I like to bitch about shit but at least I pick a fuckin' side.
It would make people like me feel more stupid for even watching wrestling in the first place if I were to see an 80 yr old man beating the shit out of a young 25-30 yr old wrestler.
It shouldn't, because everyone knows nobody can fuck with Hulk Hogan. Period. We all know it's fake, so why act like it would be so crazy for an 80 year old Hogan to beat up anyone. If that's the way it's written, that's the way it is.

Watching Hogan do anything is ten times better than watching half the shit on wwe. The NXT angle is just the ECW invasion angle all over again, and everyone's all over wwe's nuts about that storyline. So why not complain about that? Doink was on Raw last night. Where's everyone complaining about that? Not only is that NOT the original wrestler in the first place, but IT'S A FUCKING CLOWN.

Trust me, if WWE and Hogan could agree to terms, Vince would have him in a suit and he'd be the new GM TODAY. Flairs last match in WWE wasn't even that long ago, remember? I don't remember too many people complaining about him wrestling up to the point that he retired.

I don't think I'm the only one that is nostalgic about wrestling from my past. That's kind of the basis of wrestling. Parents turn their kids on to the shit. My dad introduced the shit to me and told me stories about Gorgeous George and Freddie Blassie. If I had kids right now I'd be excited to be like "That's Hulk Fuckin' Hogan, sir. You're lucky to even be able to see this guy on TV, so enjoy while you can. You should have seen Shawn Micheals."

If nostalgia weren't a huge part of wrestling, then it wouldn't exist today, period. Especially in a time when we know it's fake.

I mean 6-7 years from now if Micheals ever comes back for one reason or another, you're NOT going to be excited about that? I dunno why you watch wrestling then. Ungodd I can understand, but everyone else, I dunno...

The invasion story line concept predates WWE/ECW invasion.

Also thats one of my biggest pet peeves for american wrestling. The extreme lack of interpromotional wars.

Japan does that all the time and the fans go ape shit for it. They love when outsiders comes into a company and just start shit with everyone. Big companies fuck with the other big names and even involve the smaller companies.

Anyway....

I do understand the joy of seeing an old time favorite wrestler step back in the ring for whatever reason but it just kills me seeing them try to wrestle again. If you want to come back and do announcing or be a manager thats fine. I mean if Dory Funk Jr. came to WWE I would mark out like crazy but if he said he was going to wrestle again I would probably cry and change the channel.

The original point of this thread was the TNA/ECW angle. I have no real problem with it especially if Haymen comes in and takes it over. If they let Haymen really have control then he will be TNA's saving grace

FANS WATCH WRESTLING FOR DIFFERENT REASONS AND HAVE CERTAIN EXPECTATIONS THATS PRETTY MUCH THE BASE OF IT ALL.

I stay away from spoilers. All I knew was that the end was supposed to be decent and it was a "solid show from beginning to end".

I see a lot of comments on wrestling websites from douchebags complaining that there were too many guys in the ring. "It was messy"... LO fuckin' L. It's fucking sad to see what people care about. How many brawls have you seen where the people involved care about the space they're taking up? It seems like people are so used to the same WWE routines that they get confused if there's more than 8 people in the ring and it's not the Royal Rumble.

I wanted to type in huge bold capital letters... IT'S SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE A GANG FIGHT, YOU FUCKIN' IDIOTS! SOMETIMES IT GETS CROWDED AND SOMETIMES YOU GET CONFUSED WHO YOU'RE SWINGING AT!

But it's pointless. All those wrestling website "fans" want to do is talk shit on TNA and then berate you by calling you a John Cena fan if you have anything negative to say about their BULLSHIT opinions.

it was kinda funny/stupid how Al Snow, who teamed up with ECW had that shocked look on his face after Dixie Carter said "I invited them" lol... and on that^^^ i think its just how they are in a small ass arena and it makes everything look more zoomed in on the hard camera side, if it was in a bigger setting it wouldnt have looked too bad....
