Heresy....its basically just a high powered pc with some special software created by OpenLabs to integrate most PC music software and VST compatible synths, fx and programs all into one workstation with all the configurations and shit hooked up to keyboard and interface for you ready to go out the box.....it might have its "own" arps if your using the daw that it comes with to make beats i guess....but each vst synth usually has their own arps and an editor to create your own arps anyways....

i dont know anyone personally who has one but ive seen cats getting down with it on youtube.....some people just use it strictly for sounds like Happy Perez on this vid....he still uses an mpc to sequence.....

another Happy Perez one this time hes using just the miko by itself

Chris Thibodeaux replaced his B3 and Fender Rhodes piano with an Open Labs' NeKo on this one:

How to produce film composition using the NeKo all-in-one keyboard workstation demonstrated by composer Nicholas O'Toole.

I know what it is, but my question has more to do with the features (arps) provided by the o.s. as opposed to those provided by third party software. Good lookin out on the links.

Noob Question... tha only part I'm not too impressed with is tha PreSonus Firebox built right in. I'm not really familure with firewire interfaces' but is it possible to use tha Firebox strictly for MIDI, say fuck everything as far as vocals go & say I get a RME 800 interface and plug that up to tha firewire port on tha Miko/Neko and use that strickly for audio? Possible/sound right? Or is tha firewire port in tha back for something else?

dont know much about this thing. I'm sure its just an ordinary computer. I'm sure u can just download the program itself and just throw it on ur computer. i'm sure i can get my hacker gangsters to do that.
Its just a computer but the system is stable, if you just DL all the sounds and put em on a Computer, you could have issue with certain programs which may respond differently to your computer specs....

Yeah the presonus is O.K. but they would have to raise the price for something better, and some may not need anything better anyways.

If I was going to get something like this it would have to be completely customized as far as the guts go.

I think I might wait and see where they take this piece of equipment in the future, and then get one.

But, yes, you can custom order these, to your specific specifications with whatever type of hardware you want inside of them (as long as it fits the space obviously.) Which is cool, expensive, but cool.
