well i brought the worst cd in my collection ( Baby Face assasins album ) on the strenth of how many features from artists i like ( 10+). BUT nowadays i just itunes or lime wire feature tracks from artist i know or think are weak or are unsure of, if i like them i buy the album or atleast buy the track via itunes.

Actually Major Figgas from Phily is prob the worst album in my collection despite the fact they were good on the mixtapes i had before the album dropped.

I would use features for the exposure. Case in point: I'm from the 831. If I have a feature on my CD from let's say C-Dubb, that's automatic 916 exposure for myself. At the same time I respect C-Dubb and I'm a fan of his music. If one if his homies or someone from Sac hears it, that's what I'm aiming for. Music nowadays is oversaturated and I'm not in it for the money. I do features for free.

Features can be good and bad. The more I think about it, buying ready made verses and shit is sort of shitty. My dude 3rd put it well when he said how would we look if we scooped a ready made feature and someone asked that artists about the track and they had no clue...it may be the game, but it's kind of weak.

Spending cash on features though can definitely help your exposure even if it doesn't boost your album sales out the gate.
he said what im thinking.

RAP features are pointless...every myspace/siccness rapper out there could do a song with jay-z, lil wayne, or t.i. And it wouldn't matter. Opposed to doing a song with a keyshia cole, beyonce, usher, chris brown etc. It would definately boost your career if u pushed and promoted it the right way and you would counter both markets at one time (rap & r&b).

Spending money on rap features are pointless.

You are definitely right on this one...If you are gonna spend money on a feature at least get a crossover pop/R&B artist on it. That way you can use their celebrity to push the song to radio stations or license the song out people making movies.
