Make it only if you're going to get it played somewhere. I figure getting your videos played is better than the radio cause then people can now visualize your artists if they feel your song - they're probably feel your video more. I might see more songs on a video even before they show up on the radio. 2 centers.

I Think videos are an essental part of success, they are the part where music is transfered to the eyes for the public. Most of your marketing is seen so just hearing it dosent cut it outside your local shell. Videos give exposure nationally to that and allow the public to see what your about.. someone in florida most likely wont bring their happy ass up the seattle to see you in concert. They might purchase your DVD or album wit it tho and then they can see what its all really about and watch it with the homies.

I got over 3 years of a high school video production education which dosent say much.. but i do know that a large budget isnt essental theres plenty of ways arround spending money on dumb shit when you can capture valuable moments of importance and incorperate it with your work. (IE WHERES THE TWISTA FOOTAGE?) I seen people taping it maby you can get it! also you were talking about same shit cars ho's same old shit? the first things they taught me to do was script write and plan every shot and basically draw the movie or video before you shoot it . you could get creative and make something never done before.

I have a minimal set up with my studio to edit video that i play with aside from the producing.. if youd like i can help set you up with all you need to get yourself started. youd have to invest some chips in equipment tho. the cameras are the largest investment. Kids at highschool who are currently taking a class on this shit tho would love to make STREET LEVEL a music video....If you listen to people say you shouldent highly concider a video just ask yourself a simple question... how many successful artists dont have a video? Even if you dont take it to the top you can at least have a start and advance in time you could evolve from underground INDIE label to a top dog playin with large ammounts of kibbles and bits. i dunno... thats what i see..take it for what its worth

It depends. . .

If your album is in stores nation wide and you make a good video with in your means or budget and it got aired on Rap City or Uncut I think it'd be a good idea. But if people nationwide can't really just get up n go to the store to buy your CD's I think it's pointless. I think 99.9% of videos today on BET & MTV are just strait up garbage. Same boring bullshit over and over. Different video different bitch and ride they rented. . .

Control your own city, then move on.
This has been my theory since day 1!!! Everybody wants to escape Seattle and try to impress everybody else or look for acceptance from other regions. What's wrong with our region? I figure we represent for the NW.....get everybody behind us....then take the shit national with a solid foundation and loyal following. But what do I know?

Thanks to everybody for your great opinions.....this is some of the most intelligent conversation I've seen around here in a while.

I agree with what you're sayin' and you're on point......but my question is - if the outlets (ie. video shows & channels) aren't available or aren't going to be effective, is it worth it? Is an SLR video gettin' played at 4am on BET Uncut really reachin' THAT MANY people?

i dont think so, i think the money and effort that it would take for a music video would be spent better someplace else where you know you are reaching fans and not just hoping, cuz hoping in this game dont get you anywhere

I think its funny you guys are all talking about how its not even a big audience, but everyone in this thread has watched it. I don't know how much it is so I can't say, but I'd imagine its a hefty amount. It's a larger audience then a KUBE segment at 8AM when we all sleeping.

I think this is a great idea, I found out about artists from uncut that i would have never heard of. you dont even have to dish out tall stacks its all about the music. maybee get some film student to do it for real cheap. if u got a low budjet video but a tight ass song people gon start noticing. and bet uncut plays at 2am in chicago and probly 1am on the east coast so that aint really too bad of a time. as for people gettin their hands on the records jus flash ur website in the video or sumin. some SLR cuts would blow those other garbage vidios away. one video thats stuck in my head i know ual know. white giiiiiirrrrrllls, that shit was funny tho. go for that shit D more people then u think watch bet uncut

^Thats not my point, if all the people in this thread have seen it, everyone else has. And other rappers buy music too.. You tryin to tell me you wouldnt turn on BET, see someone from the SLR camp you're feeling, and check them out?
