OAKLAND -- Two teenagers, one 17, the other 18, were gunned down in separate shootings Saturday at opposite ends of the city. One of the victims had lost a brother to another homicide in 2004, police said.
Then Saturday afternoon at 1:55 p.m., police, responding to a 9- 1-1 call, found a 17-year-old man dead on the sidewalk in the 1200 block of 89th Avenue in East Oakland. He had been shot once, Sgt. Nolan said.
Police did not identify the victim, but friends said he was Anthony Butler, who would havebeen a senior this fall at Skyline High School. His brother, Harold Butler Jr., was killed in a shooting in Brookfield Village just days before his 18th birthday, police said.
