well growing up in a small town, and going to a relatively small high school, no one found original music on their own. everyone just passed around the same cds and listened to certain artists in concentration. like for a few months everyone listened to nickatina, then lynch (actually just the song "refuse to lose", every white kid was slappin that in their car for like 3 months my sophomore year), then grouch, then living legends, then so on

Andre Nickatina - Ayo for Yayo
I saw Andre Nickatina perform a couple of years ago at USC. I was surprised at how many white people there were singing the words to this song. I was thinking, "Damn, I didn't even think that many people in Southern Cali listened to Nickatina. Maybe they all came from the bay."

I'm white and I'll admit that I like the majority of the songs on that list. But I also like a lot of music that black people hate. I remember in high school in class the teacher let us listen to a stereo and I pulled whatever pop music CD was in there and put in the brand new Master P- Ghetto Dope and all of the black people twisted up their faces like "What the fuck is that shit?" I said, "This is some real rap music. Learn his name now because he'll be big real soon."

God I hated Novato when I was growing up there.

Sidenote: "Baby Got Back" works equally well on a list like "The Top 10 Rap Songs That Fat Chicks Love."
