I think it plays apart. Music is very influential. The most influential medium in entertainment imo. Music can make u feel happy, sad, angry etc. If you don't have the intelligence to know that's its just music u will get hypnotized so to speak.
On the same token at the end of the day we are all responsible of our actions regardless of race, economic background etc. But I do feel music plays a role. But the bigger role with black people is lack of fathers, lack of a family structure. That's the biggest contributing factor. If we know that the cards are stacked against us then why don't we have the sense to do right? To not follow what our parents did or grandparents did, or friends we see?
Its a lot of reasons why tho, can't just pinpoint on music. But music is a small part.
I was raised in the USA but live overseas now ..American gangsta rap has helped ruin many poor areas over here made them worse because every brown kid wants to be like the cool black guys from USA claimin blood n crip stabbing people over it...goin fulltard...it would still be a shit hole but not as bad if u take away rap and hood movies from the equation...
