Aurilia, who turned 35 in September, starred for San Francisco the first nine years of his career but was not re-signed after the 2003 season. He surprised with a super season for Cincinnati this past year, batting .300 with 70 RBIs and 23 homers, plus a .518 slugging percentage, his highest mark since he slugged .572 with the Giants in 2001.

Aurilia has primarily played shortstop in his career, but he has expanded his coverage to all infield spots. His signing would allow the Giants more flexibility in dealing with free agent Ray Durham, who may seek more money than Aurilia will make. Also, there has been little movement to re-sign third baseman Pedro Feliz, and Aurilia appears willing to play wherever he's needed.

...and yes they said they were going to be a younger team this season, but what can you do when you are gettin turned down left and right?

cry, unless iffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff !!!!!!!!!!........!!!!!!!!!!!!

"San Francisco is close to signing outfielder Dave Roberts and versatile infielder Rich Aurilia, while currently trying to obtain Red Sox free-agent left fielder Manny Ramirez in a multiteam deal."

"There is speculation the Red Sox want the likes of pitcher Noah Lowry and first baseman Lance Niekro, but there could be a bidding war among Los Angeles and San Diego as well. The good news is the Giants could afford Ramirez financially, and his signing might mean the end of Bonds' tenure."

Listen, as one of the few people on the siccness who actually know baseball, and is a baseball head himself, I'm content. Why? Fuck Soriano, Fuck Lee, and save the money for the FA of the crop next year. Complain all you want, next year the giants will even have more money to sign player like Ichiro, VERNON WELLS, who I'm high on. Dave Roberts is the leadoff hitter the giants have been looking for, Aurilia is much better than Pedro Feliz, and on top of that Aurilia is a damn true Giant. Here's the Line-up if Bonds is to sign

CF Dave Roberts Good Leadoff man, can steal bases
SS Vizquel Good 2nd hitter, can bunt, can steal bases and field
2B Durham who signed today, check out last years stats
LF Bonds need I say more
1B ? Don't Know yet
3B Aurilia Wayy better than Pedro Feliz
RF Winn/Linden Winn wasn't a leadoff hitter he's more suited for the 3,5,6,7 hole
C-Alfonzo, and now the Giants are looking to sign Bengie Molina a good Catcher

1) That would be a really good fit, I can see that happening from both sides, SF Giants know they play in SF w/ all the Asian people in the Bay would absolutely go crazy over him just like they have up here. Plus w/ that 420 foot right-center field gap (biggest right-center in baseball) Ichiro would hit 20 triples a year down there. I really do see that happening, that's a great fit.

2) I disagree 100% there, Feliz will far outperform Aurilia the next 3 years offensively, defensively I don't know as much about Felix as I should, but I know Aurilia was nothing special with the leather. We hate Aurilia up here b/c our management was goated into showing him the $ b/c of his one good season. Seems like a similar situation now, as he did have a respectable year in Cincinnati. Aurilia sucks balls man, trust me, I hope the Giants don't make the same mistake the Mariners did.

PS I'm coming down there for the All-Star game this year, one of my college teammates Mom is like one of the 5 most important lesbians in SF or something LOL so he's invited the whole team to sit up in a luxury box for the game. It's going to be fuckin money, can't wait for it.

Hopefully I can make it too, if I have enough Money then. The only reason Aurilia had sorry season was because of a hurt eye. He got laser Surgery and look what he did.

put aurilia at first base and trade for miguel cabrera. i'd give up anyone for him including cain (but only if they can work out an extension first)
