yeah kon its not that i dont want to judge, i just dont necessarily want to be THE ONLY SAY. that isnt fair and i dont think its right, although im much more experienced in the world, your (the people viewing the drawings) eyes are just as important as mine in graffiti, if not more important. because im a writer, but youre a civilian. we write for the civilians to see it, the outlook of another writer is purely from a technical level in which civilians dont understand. this is what i would suggest.
like dhadnot said, i will initially give everyone a detailed understanding of what the artists will be doing for us to see, so you know exactly what and what not to look for. you will know exactly on what basis youre judging them, youll know what isnt allowed, what is allowed. if you dont know what a 'throw up' is, i will explain briefely.
i would rather play the part of the teacher, if at all needed.
like i said if i see a letter that i know another artist did, i will point it out. it will be UP TO THE VIEWERS to decide if that letter is way too similar, or if they even car about the fact the person blatantly stole a letter. (letters sometimes are shared be thousands of different people in the graffiti community. some people look down on it, others merely look at it as part of the game, you learn by taking other peoples shit and twisting it around to your own signature feel. its all about if you really think being influenced by another person is credible in a competition. if a person used a few rap lines from another rapper in a battle, how would you feel?)
* another thought..maybe a tag battle...you do 3 of your best tags, different styles, and post pics....
maybe also a throw up battle..where you do your writing name in three different throw ups..maybe colors will be invovled maybe not...we'll chose the winner based on the entire package of the three throw ups..they will not be connected with eachother, just side by side.
heres a idea of where ill take it.
1) top to bottom lettering
2) tall letters
3) abstract letters
4) alphabet letters
5) abstract graf
6) graf pictionary (i give you a word, you draw a picture of it)
7) cursive
8) foreign words in graf (such as japanese, etc)
9) pussu graf (who can draw the best pussu?)
10)online graffiti (use ms paint, or a online graf site where you can draw online)
11) current events (take something that happened this year and draw something about it)
if it opened up to shit like that ^^^ id might compete...its too cut and dry for me to be interested, i need a challenge...lol...like lets draw retarded children and put them in hyphy backgrounds and/or situations...lets draw the skeleton of a mouse or somethin. i dunno. if i just draw id kinda kill it.
thats all i can think of right now tho maybe more lata and if it happens again ill centralize all my thoughts and make concrete rules
