My sister and I took my mom out for her birthday today and we ate @ a place called Worman House at Big Cedar Lodge Resort in Missouri.

Olive antipasto salad, shrimp, smoked salmon w/ capers and cheese, artichokes, caprese salad, and assorted cheeses

assorted greens salad w/ green olives and fresh made Thousand Island dressing

sugar cookie, raspberry coconut minicake, cinnamon biscotti muffin, chocolate orange sandwich cookies, cookies and creme cupcake, and blueberry creme empanada

I forgot to take a picture of my entree, but I had braised chicken with herbs and zucchini pasta, and beef tenderloin with red and green pepper polenta

It was an open buffet, but there was nothing prepackaged or fried on it. All the entree's and salad's were light and the taste was well balanced. It cost a hell of a lot, too, but it's worth it to have such a great dining experience with great food choices to choose from.

It's kinda sad, actually, that you now have to pay a fair amount for the intimacy of a great dining experience. Every now and then you'll find a place that serves top notch food mixed with fine dining for a reasonable price, but not very often.

That's true. I had that fried chicken at a hole in the wall yesterday way out in the Ozarks, and come to find out they are the caterers for my college's cafeteria. That was some of the best fried chicken I've had in a long time.
