According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, the Giants were awarded the claim on Padres' closer Heath Bell.
The Giants will now have until 1 p.m. ET on Friday to work out a trade. While this could be a sign that the Giants are concerned about the health of Brian Wilson (elbow), it also blocks other contenders like the first-place Diamondbacks. Bell currently projects as a Type A free agent this winter, so the price could be pretty steep. As of now, a deal appears unlikely.
^^ YES.. that's who we should've gone after to begin with.. Hector Sanchez doesn't block balls very good (yes he's a rookie but he should have better technique than a backhand), I could not trust him in a bases loaded situation or a runner on 3rd..
So if a dude is "yoked", that means he can beat up anybody smaller than him? Common man, everybody knows that's not the case. The fact of the matter is none of us have seen Wilson or Latos fight so nobody knows who would beat eachother up.
This was about who was a fag that belonged in the Castro district, Wilson has been spotted there before, not Latos.
Pat Burrell (foot) might end up retiring if he determines that he's unable to play on his chronically injured foot.
Burrell will DH in a rehab game with High-A San Jose Wednesday before taking Thursday off and DHing again somewhere on Friday. There's been no indication that the pain in his foot has subsided, so he'll evidently just see how much he can take. At best, he'll probably be limited to pinch-hitting duty in September.
Nate Schierholtz (foot) will throw and hit off a tee before Wednesday's game.
Schierholtz will attempt to play through a hairline fracture in his right foot, but he'll sit out the next few days. He's wearing a boot on the foot in an effort to alleviate pressure but will just take it off when he goes through workouts.
Sergio Romo (elbow) threw a successful 30-pitch bullpen session Wednesday.
He'll throw an inning Friday for the Giants' Arizona League team. Assuming that outing goes well, it seems likely that he could be activated over the weekend. Romo will beat Brian Wilson back from the DL and, thus, could be used as the closer until Wilson is ready.
Brian Wilson (elbow) could begin playing light catch Thursday.
The Giants suggested when Wilson went on the DL that he could be back after 15 days, but their waiver claim of Heath Bell indicates they might be concerned about their injured closer. Of course, they could have just been blocking the D'Backs from making a claim, so it might be completely unrelated. Wilson is eligible to return on August 31 but will need to throw at least a few bullpen sessions and possibly go out on a short rehab assignment before returning.

B Weezy can actually fight too.. Latos likes to just run his mouth, it's a known fact.
I'd put my $$ on Wilson.. as for "who belonged in the Castro District" this was never about that, its about whos a bigger fag than anyone on Castro Street..
