Major League Baseball suspended Philadelphia’s Shane Victorino for three games in the wake of Friday night’s fracas, but the Giants basically got away scot-free. Pitcher Ramon Ramirez and catcher Eli Whiteside received undisclosed fines — as did the Phillies’ Placido Polanco. Victorino will reportedly appeal. Pablo Sandoval received no penalties, and at least as far as can be determined nor did Giants players on the DL on the field supposedly in violation of Rule 3.17: “Disabled players are not allowed to enter the playing surface at any time or for any purpose during the game.” Both Pat Burrell and Barry Zito were on the field.
Carlos Beltran is out of the lineup tonight with the wrist injury he suffered Sunday. No word yet on how long it may keep him out.
Here’s tonight’s lineup against the Pirates behind RHP Charlie Morton (8-6). Unlike Philly, which came to town riding a six-game winning streak, Pittsburgh has lost 10 in a row.
CF Torres, 2B Keppinger, 3B Sandoval, 1B Huff, RF Schierholtz, SS Cabrera, LF Rowand, C Whiteside, P Vogelsong
