My girlfriend just declined Valentine's dinner with me to plan a dinner for my mom and dad.

Depending on how long you have been dating your girlfriend and how close/how many times she has met your parents may give an indication on how to interpret it.. Maybe in her mind she can see this as an opportunity to get closer to you or closer to your family as a whole.. is there distance between herself and your parents? If not, maybe it is just a thoughtful gesture..

We've been dating for three months and there's been distance between she and I.

She's trying to bless my parents and in the process it'll bless me.

I just held the day in a little higher regard than she does, so it's not a big deal.

I almost started tripping at first though because I thought she was calling off our plans, but she wasn't. She was readjusting them to include taking care of the plans to cook for my parents.

I love my folks and want to bless them.

I'm gonna continue to say that so I don't get selfish.
