Wolves aren't that dangerous, the majority of human deaths caused by wolves happened pre 1900s when wolves were more vicious. The best way to handle wolves, in the Canadian wilderness, is to befriend them. Once they are your friends have them chase the musk-ox. Musk-ox will form a defensive circle around their young (which is a good defensive strategy against wolves). Once they do this shoot the Musk oxen and eat for months.
