Palmer can’t wait until Monday
Here is the link to the interview with Carson Palmer that ran in today’s paper. He gets his playbook on Monday when the team meets for the first time with new coach Dennis Allen.
Two other things that Palmer touched on in our phone conversation:
1. How much he likes his young receiving corps.
He has made no secret of how good he thinks Denarius Moore can be, and Friday said that Moore “will be a star” with his “big-play making ability.” He has talked to Moore often this offseason and said he loves that Moore is disappointed he didn’t do more last season, when he got hurt. “He’s working hard this offseason and he wants to be the best, and I am going to push him.”
Palmer added that Darrius Heyward-Bey, Jacoby Ford and Louis Murphy are all hungry as well. And 6-foot-4 Eddie McGee looks poised to move up from the practice squad and take Chaz Schilens’ place.
2. The pressure that he feels validating Hue Jackson’s big trade for him last season.
Palmer feels it, but Palmer said he is always under pressure to play well.
“From the day you first get behind center, there is pressure — that’s just the nature of the quarterback position,” Palmer said. “I like that. And no one puts more pressure on me than I do myself. That’s not something I shy away from.”
