Wisniewski retained on Allen’s staff

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Wednesday, February 1st, 2012 at 7:36 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Not sure how the responsibilities will break down with offensive line hire Frank Pollack, but the Raiders have retained the services of assistant line coach Steve Wisniewski.

Both Pollack and Allen were assistant line coaches last season, Pollack under John Benton and Wisniewski under Bob Wylie.

Pollack was a tackle as an NFL player, Wisniewski a guard. Haven’t heard whether they’ll be co-line coaches or if there will be a line coach and an assistant.

The Raiders had co-line coaches one time in 2006 under Art Shell and it was a disaster, with Irv Eatman and Jackie Slater essentially taking their cue from Shell.

i loved what hue did with the power blocking and runnin the plays mcfadden liked and would of love to see him build off that.
but on the other hand, the backs in houston did really good, especially foster and tate, and they kinda remind me of DMC style,.

lets hope we get that type of production out of the o-line

back when we were running the zone with cable and we would play the texans. I would always think, "damn they run that shit way better than us". so hopefully that line coach from the texans can get ours playing like he had it going in houston.

Report: Raiders want to interview Packers' Joe Whitt Jr. for defensive coordinator job

The Raiders reportedly have requested permission to speak with Green Bay Packers cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt Jr. about Oakland's defensive coordinator vacancy.
Whitt Jr., 33, has spent the past four years with the Packers and worked with new Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie during that time.
NFL.com says the Raiders have asked the Packers for permission to let coach Dennis Allen interview Whitt Jr. Allen is seeking a replacement for Chuck Bresnahan.
The Packers have the right to deny the Raiders permission, given the position Whitt Jr. would interview for is not a head coaching job. Whitt Jr. also was with the Atlanta Falcons, in 2007. He coached in the college ranks for five years before signing with the Falcons.
Meanwhile, former 49ers and Chargers defensive coordinator Greg Manusky was hired as the Colts' new defensive coordinator. Manusky reportedly interviewed for the Raiders' vacant coordinator's job earlier this week.

Los Angeles suddenly long-shot option for Raiders

By Steve Corkran Friday, February 3rd, 2012 at 5:05 pm in Oakland Raiders 53 Comments »

Raiders owner Mark Davis said Jan. 10 that he already has received offers from investors who want to build stadiums in the Los Angeles area about the prospect of the Raiders relocating to the part of the state they left after the 1994 season. Davis declined to go into specifics. However, he made it abundantly clear that Los Angeles remains a viable option as long as the Raiders don’t have a better option than the Oakland Coliseum in its current state. “Los Angeles is a possibility,” Davis said. “Wherever’s a possibility. We need a stadium.” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell splahsed a tub of cold water on the Raiders, or any other NFL team, moving to Los Angeles by saying, “We want to keep our teams where they are.” Further, Goodell said if the NFL returns to Los Angeles at some point, it likely would be with one or two expansion teams. The Raiders lease extension with the Coliseum expires after the 2013 season. At this point, their options are: sign an extension or find a way to get a new stadium built. The 49ers moved closer to getting their new stadium by receiving a $200 million loan from the NFL, with no language providing the 49ers be joint tenants with the Raiders. Not that that matters anyway. The 49ers and Raiders want their own stadiums. Until now, Los Angeles seemed like the Raiders’ best option. “There’s offers on the table, but I wouldn’t talk about them,” Davis said of Los Angeles. “If there was an offer that we liked, we would’ve taken it. Let me put it that way. And there’s not.” The clock is ticking.

Translation of Goodell's statement: You (Raiders) eiter have to fund your own stadium or share with the Niners.

I see the share happening now that the NFL is involved with funding. I am not looking forward to what ticket prices will look like....

To be honest, I'm perfectly fine with the Raiders staying in Oakland, in the coliseum. Oakland is closer for me, and I don't wanna pay huge ticket prices. I just wanna see my team win, I don't care what the stadium looks like.

With that being said, as long as we don't go to LA, I'm not really trippin either way.

I'd be fine with sharing a stadium. I know Niners fans have said they don't wanna share with the Raiders, but it would be better than each team getting their own new stadium. Both teams could afford to keep ticket prices somewhat lower if there's twice as many games played there every year.

I was all for the team moving back to LA until they sold out all the home games this past season. Don't fuck things up now that you finally got your fanbase back.

we need a new right side on the Oline Carlisle and Barnes aint the answer
I don't know what Cooper Carlisle you watched but I think he held is own very well.
Barnes is trash tho.

The NFL would give the Raiders the money if the Raiders had a plan in place. The 49ers got a site and it's already approved so they get the money.

If the Raiders can get a new coliseum at the current site that would be way better.
The location is way better than Santa Clara.
I'm sure the Raiders won't get a new stadium anytime soon. The NFL still hates them.

Stanford’s Tarver on Raiders’ radar?

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer Saturday, February 4th, 2012 at 2:53 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Stanford co-defensive coordinator Jason Tarver is under consideration to be the defensive coordinator of the Raiders, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Tarver coached on the 49ers staff from 2001 through 20010, working as an offensive quality control coach from 2001-03, assistant running backs coach in 2004 and outside linebackers from 2005 through 2010.

He joined David Shaw’s staff in 2011 to work as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers, replacing Vic Fangio, who joined Jim Harbaugh with the 49ers.

Tarver, 37, attended Foothill High in Pleasanton and also played at West Valley College after Santa Clara cut it football program in 1994-95.

It’s been slow going for the Raiders in their search to find a replacement for Chuck Bresnahan. Oakland reportedly interviewed Greg Manusky, to accepted the defensive coordinator position with the Indianapolis Colts. They have reportedly been denied permission to talk with Bill Johnson of New Orleans and Richard Smith of Denver. Other names that have surfaced include Green Bay cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt Jr. and 49ers secondary coach Ed Donatell, although it’s not known if either man has actually interviewed or has been given permission to be interviewed.

Coaches under contract can be denied permission to interview if under contract except in the case of a head coaching position.
