Gary Russell Resurfaces With Raiders
Posted by Mike Florio on May 8, 2009, 2:39 p.m.
Apparently, two teams in the the AFC West believe that the division will be decided this year by the number of running backs that a given team has under contract.

At a time when the Broncos are hoarding tailbacks, the Raiders keep adding more to the roster as well.

The latest addition is Gary Russell, according to Jerry McDonald of InsideBayArea.com.

Actually, Russell is only the fifth tailback on the roster. It only seems like they have more than that, given the top-heavy depth chart featuring Darren McFadden, Michael Bush, and Justin Fargas. (Fargas!)

They also have four fullbacks, given the arrival of Lorenzo Neal.

Russell was recently cut by the Steelers and then claimed off waivers by the Bengals. Shortly thereafter, the Bengals released him, too.

John Herrera reportedly announced the move to reporters assembled at a team minicamp.

Presumably, no one put their f–king hands on him.

I've heard of Gary Russell a little last year... once

I was listening to ESPN's Bill Simmons podcast and he was talking making a bet about the over/under for TD's or yards for Gary Russell in the Super Bowl... basically as a joke because he never saw the field

whatever... I'm sure it didn't cost hardly anything

way to change the words clown. i just dont get it. if you are not a raider fan, why do you even care? it says alot about your character.
haha, ur a fuckin idiot. what i posted is what Rotoworld wrote, which does summarize what dude wrote. ur a fuckin retard. And i read everything sports-related. I dont have to be a raiders fan to know hes out of shape. Oh, please dont judge my character!!! U sound like a fucking grandma.

edit: lmao @ scrub415, what a nerd

dubble edit: i mean, really, u make a comment about JRussell's body, i post something your team's beat writer wrote, just out of coincidence with what u said, and IM THE SCRUB, get the fuck outta here

]"JaMarcus Russell "has not been a well-cut athlete" during his time as a Raider, according to beat writer Jerry McDonald. It's well known that Russell's work ethic has lacked, and McDonald says his body has looked "more like some of the offensive linemen" than a QB. Russell donned a baggy practice jersey at spring minicamps, hiding his shape. The Raiders were optimistic about his dedication this winter, but clearly there's been no obvious difference in Russell's conditioning level."
here is what you condensed the article into. these are your own words to fit your miniscule thinking in regards to the raiders. but i know your mind is clouded with hate so you can have that one.

– Will Russell be in better shape? Lane Kiffin used to say Russell was always going to be a 270-pounder and there was nothing that could be done to change that. It was his body and his natural weight.

But truth be told, Russell, as least with the Raiders, has not been a well-cut athlete and his body-type looks more like some of the offensive linemen than a quarterback. Athletes “change their body” through nutrition and training all the time.

Russell tends to wear a baggy practice jersey and his shape may not be evident. It’s also worth noting it’s only May and he’s got plenty of time. Or maybe Kiffin is simply right. Russell will look like Russell.
here is the actual passage you took the info from. he is 6'6. the man is big. he doesnt look out of shape. you twisted the words to fit your objective, which was to degrade the raiders. when will some of you niner fans pass some of that shit you guys are smoking. reality is irrelevant shit.

here is the link. am i missing something?

Neal is a great signing... we're going to cause problems in the AFC West. If our offensive line holds up, it's going to be on and crackin'....

radiostationrep don't pay attention to them scrub as Niners fans man...They're still stuck in their old glory days. The 49ers are on their way to becoming the laughing stock of the NFL so don't even trip. The idiots took another player from a spread offense, when will they learn?

i hear you. sometimes it's just ridiculous the lengths they go to prove a non-valid point. al davis has credibility. the yorks do not at this point. i'm not saying al is the same great mind he was, but this years off season says alot about him realizing his mistakes and moving on. the niners havent been a playoff team for as long as us, but yet their future is brighter? "any given sunday", that is quote all bay area football fans should recognize.

again, are u fuckin retarded? I copied and pasted that little blurb from ROTOWORLD...WWW.ROTOWORLD.COM (which is why i put what i put in QUOTES). here i'll paste some more shit from there so u get it. I didnt create anything "to degrade the raiders".

Arman Shields-WR-Raiders May. 8 - 7:26 pm et

Raiders 2008 fourth-round WR Arman Shields is having problems with the same knee that was surgically repaired before last season.
Coach Tom Cable is calling him "day-to-day," but Shields has already fallen behind the other young receivers on the Raiders. He needs to get back on the field after missing all of last season.

Samie Parker-WR-Raiders May. 8 - 7:22 pm et

Raiders agreed to terms with WR Samie Parker.
This follows news that Javon Walker recently underwent another knee surgery, but Parker isn't going to have fantasy value regardless. Between 2004-07 with the Chiefs, he was one of the worst starting wide receivers in the league. He didn't play in 2008.

D.J. Hackett-WR-Panthers May. 8 - 6:35 pm et

D.J. Hackett visited with the Texans Friday instead of trying out with the Ravens.
Hackett was scheduled to try out in Baltimore along with three other veteran receivers. Houston already has Andre' Davis and David Anderson behind their starters, so Hackett would have a tough time cracking the lineup.

Willis McGahee-RB-Ravens May. 8 - 6:32 pm et

According to Willis McGahee, his most recent arthroscopic surgery was to his ankle, not his knee.
The team initially announced it as a knee surgery, but it looks like they erred. McGahee expects to be fully recovered by the start of training camp in late July. He can't afford to fall behind Le'Ron McClain and Ray Rice for a second straight summer.

Demetrius Williams-WR-Ravens May. 8 - 6:28 pm et

Ravens WR Demetrius Williams indicated that he is about 80 percent recovered from last year's Achilles and ankle surgery.
Williams has been running and cutting in practice, but he's still walking with a limp. The Ravens need him to make a full recovery in time for preseason action, but he's no longer guaranteed to maintain his deep threat role.

Chiefs Defense-TM-Chiefs May. 8 - 6:19 pm et

Chiefs named Denny Thum their new team president.
Thum has been splitting duties with Scott Pioli, who runs the football operations. This won't change Pioli's role with the franchise, as Thum will continue to run the financial side of things while Pioli handles personnel.
Source: Kansas City Star

Javon Walker-WR-Raiders May. 8 - 5:32 pm et

Javon Walker underwent another surgery on his knee last month.
Walker just told the team about the procedure a few days ago. Coach Tom Cable acknowledged that it's "uncommon" for player to undergo surgery without informing the team, but normal rules don't apply to the Raiders. Cable says Walker's ankle is now fine, but it's the knee we worry about. We were looking for a reason to write Walker off once again, and this looks like the one. He's going to be behind Darrius Heyward-Bey, Chaz Schilens, and Johnnie Lee Higgins this season.

and u can say whatever u want about the niners "not being a playoff team.", but point blank simply, no fuckin "degrading", the raiders are the worst team over the last 6 years, as is obvious by their record. (only team to lose 11 games a year 6 years in a row.) Say the niners arent much better, sure, i dont care, whatever u need to make u feel better about it.

@ scrub415.

like i said, you are a hater in every sense of the word. point blank, like you would say, the niners fans arent in a position to say anything about their scrub team and franchise being any better than the raiders. yeah, you guys have a few more wins, but does that really mean anything? i could definately post facts to back up my argument. but i'll let you have this one. if you copied it from another site why post another link?
