My car is coming to it's end I think.

It's a pontiac Grand AM 03.

I was driving and it died in the the middle of an intersection. It did this two times in the city. I got to more rural area and it died like 3 more times before I got home. Every time I stop it seemed to just loose power and quit.

All in all I ended up running like three stop signs. Idk what the fuck is wrong.
dude those cars are pieces of shit... it has a 3.4 V6?

I used to have a 2000 Grand Am... fuck that car

lol@you all believing that shit....c'mon son!

I do my own brakes, full tune ups, oil changes and other minor car repairs ...
You get all the plugs on the Camaro? I stopped on the Trans Am after doing the driver side and 1-2 of the passenger side. It's a bitch on that side.

I have a kwik lift now and may try it again from under.

dude could be hellaa different stuff or just a fuse and ur car is gonna be fine, after it dies does it start right up? If you star the car up and leave it in idle will it eventually die if you dont give it gas?
Yeah it starts up again after it dies. And if you leave it in idle yeah it will die with no gas.

Could be lots of things. Did the engine light come on? If the light is on have somewhere scan it, the trouble code will steer you as to whats wrong. Was it just at a stop? Or just at random?
The engine light is always on. I had someone scan it when the engine light came on and he said its just an electronic thing and it will just be on but nothing to worry about.

And at first it would just die at stops but then it started to loose power and die just going down the road.

I dont know why but I was thinking it was the transmission and if so fuck this car I'm gettin a different one. Hopefully it is just a lil electronic problem or somethin though.

I have so many problems with this thing. At one point my steering wheel column would have smoke coming from it at times.

Do you remember what the code was? Or what the scanner said the problem was? A few weeks ago my truck threw a P0601 code, and I ended up needing to go to the dealer for a replacement computer, $860. I got a engine light one morning, then it lost power and died getting on the freeway about 50 miles later, restarted, died again about 15 miles later, the next day it started dying at every red light, in addition to random times.

If your shits smoking, dying, and whatever other problems your sayin its time for a new car or a bus pass, dont end up hurting someone else.

so I was driving today and the "Service Battery Charging System" message popped up on my dash. made it home, tried to start my car a few hours later, and wouldn't start.

I was thinking it might be the alternator and the battery was just dead, but my headlights and high beams went on, and they were pretty bright too... tested the battery and it's fully charged

any thoughts?

I had no problems with this car until I paid it off... now it's been a piece of shit... FML

thats how cars go.
pretty much, if you have a newer car you're more than likely making payments... but it's probably not gonna have tons of problems, and may under warranty

if you have an older car... you're more than likely making payments, and have no warranty... so basically you're fucked and paying money either way

fuck cars... they're faggots

but yea, I thought it was the alternator too... we'll see

whatever it is.. alternator, battery, starter, etc... shouldn't be too much to replace.... especially after having my tranny rebuilt a couple months ago... everything is peanuts compared to that

What kind of car is it? can you pull your error codes? prolly starter motor/ignition coil, when you go to start it does it crank at all? check battery terminals for the fuck of it

N i would totally disagree with you, I have an 80s GMC car and they are amazingly easy to work on especially compared to newer cars, plus all newer cars are run by computers, much greater chance of electrical failures/problems n whatever, nothin personal just sayin

yeah, you're probably right. my car is an 06 impala... new enough that it's run by computers... old enough to be a piece of shit

the first time I tried to start it, it clicked, but starter didn't crank... tried to start it again and it did nothing... in park

put it in neutral and it clicked... still didn't crank

well u said other things come on in the car, radio or whatever so that rules out the battery, for the most part, take a quick look at all the cables, maybe theres some corrosion, most likely its the starter tho, its alot easier to narrow it down if it doesnt crank, you prolly want to get the work done by a shop but if you feel good about doin it yourself you can pull one from the pick n pull in the town, i go there all the time

so my heater isnt heating anymore

what steps do i go through to save myself a $700 heater core replacement bill?

my friend said to check my radiator fluid, lol. its full.
so yea. are there other small things i could rule out first before replacing the heater core? someone told me to replace the thermostat cause it might be that, and its cheap to do
