He went to Deer Valley. Everyone has nothing but good things to say about him too. One of my childhood friends coaches at Eastern Washington. It is funny because he did an internship with the Raiders last year. I wonder if they put us up on game then.lol

AFC West Defensive Lineman Rankings (BW)

By Bill Williamson

1. Richard Seymour, Oakland: He is the class of the division. He is aging, but he is still a brilliant player.

2. Glenn Dorsey, Kansas City: He made great strides in 2010, his third NFL season. He had adjusted well to the 3-4 defense and he is the anchor to a young defense.

3. Tommy Kelly, Oakland: Kelly had his best NFL season in 2010 and he pairs very nicely with Seymour. He is tough when he is motivated.

4. Elvis Dumervil, Denver: Dumervil is back to end in a 4-3 after excelling in a 3-4 defense. He struggles against the run, but he is a force as a pass-rusher.

5. Lamarr Houston, Oakland: I really like this player. The second-year player is a potential star.

6. Antonio Garay, San Diego: Garay had a terrific season in 2010. He is a tremendous nose tackle.

7. Luis Castillo, San Diego: Castillo is a solid player, but I’d like to see more impact plays.

8. Matt Shaughnessy, Oakland: He’s another fine young player for Oakland. He has made the most of his opportunities.

9. Tyson Jackson, Kansas City: Jackson has been just so-so. This is a huge season for the No. 3 overall pick of the 2009 draft.

10. Corey Liuget, San Diego: The No. 18 overall pick of the 2011 draft will start at end and he will get a chance to make an immediate impact.

11. Wallace Gilberry, Kansas City: He’s is an underrated player. He can get sacks in bunches.

12. John Henderson, Oakland: He is aging, but he can still help Oakland as a run stuffer.

13. Robert Ayers, Denver: This is a big season for Ayers, the No. 18 pick in 2009. New coach John Fox likes him, so he’ll get a chance to start.

14. Trevor Scott, Oakland: Scott has a chance to be very good. He has natural pass-rushing ability.

15. Ron Edwards, Kansas City: He’s steady. The Chiefs want more help at tackle, but Edwards is OK.

16. Shaun Smith, Kansas City: The Chiefs need to bring him back. He can make an impact.

17. Marcus Thomas, Denver: Denver wants this free agent back.

18. Allen Bailey, Kansas City: The Chiefs are very excited about this third-round pick. He could play right away.

19. Kevin Vickerson, Denver: Denver may need to bring this free agent back.

20 Vaughn Martin, San Diego: It’s time for this project to make a move.

21. Cam Thomas, San Diego: The Chargers still have high hopes for this second-year player.

same way we've been doing it the last few year before the cba ended. every year it was reported that we wouldn't be able to sign anybody because of the salary cap situation. there are always loopholes to get around it.

Get ready for cap crisis nonsense

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Thursday, July 14th, 2011 at 8:38 pm in Oakland Raiders.

With the players and owners reportedly on the fast track according to various ESPN reports we can begin to reintroduce ourselves to all the stories of salary cap hell.

It will happen almost immediately. A team will part with a big-named player, then a coach or GM will shrug his shoulders and say, “The cap made us do it.”

Someone will bypass the chance to sign a free agent and blame the salary cap.

And almost all of it will be nonsense.

There have already been some reports about how the Raiders will be incapable of bringing aboard anything substantial after signing up Richard Seymour and Stanford Routt to contracts before the lockout.

Does anyone remember before the the uncapped season how the Raiders would routinely have these huge overages against the salary cap _ as high as $40 or $50 million _ and then magically be under the cap and still be players in the free agent market?

It happened almost every year. Raiders cap strapped. Raiders make splash in free agency.

Tim Brown, former executive council member, once told me the biggest sham in the NFL was when teams say players were cut for cap reasons. No team, Brown maintained, ever lost a player they truly wanted to keep especially if the player was open to staying.

The cap becomes a convenient excuse to cut a player whose salary is deemed to be out of line.

A case in point was running back Thomas Jones, who was the heart and soul of the Jets running game in 2009 and a respected player by coaches and teammates alike. He was due to make $6 million in salary and had a large option bonus. It was an uncapped year. The Jets could simply have dug deep and paid the money. Instead, they cut Jones because it was more than they wanted to pay.

Teams do this all the time with a cap in place, then claim it as a “salary cap casualty” when addressing it with the media.

The Raiders, to their credit, never played that game.

It made sense, because they routinely entered the free agent market by playing the salary cap the way people refinance their homes. They simply extended contracts to their top players, cut their salaries to the minimum and spread bonus money out over the life of the deal to lessen the cap hit.

Brown did it almost every season. There’s a certain amount of dead money created, but it isn’t difficult to keep playing the cap game and pushing debt into the next season without ever really being accountable or losing a chance to sign someone.

During the seven awful seasons which preceded last year’s rise to .500, Oakland’s problem wasn’t how it managed the salary cap. They did that just fine, coming up with plenty of money to sign free agents. Their problem was in signing the wrong players.

If the Raiders aren’t active players in free agency, it won’t be because of the salary cap. It will be because after shelling out huge money to the likes of Gibril Wilson, Javon Walker and DeAngelo Hall (by trade), they chose to go in another direction and develop younger players.

It won’t stop the flood of “Raiders in trouble against the cap” stories, despite historical evidence to the contrary.

We are back in action NATION! I really think we are a playoff team in 2011. We have to move some money around and try to get a guard and tackle on the o-line. Bush is not going anywhere(whoever signs him has to give up a 1st rounder). Miller is getting a deal more than likely. Nmadi may be gone but we have young guys ready to step it up. Routt had the toughest assignment in football and held his own. Lets see if he is ready for prime time.

Offensively we are going to be explosive, top 10 offense in the league. Hue Jackson has had a long time to work those x's and o's. We are going to be hard to matchup against if our recievers can play average. His play calling is the wild card that makes the offense better. Keeping defenses honest is something we haven't been able to do for a long time.

RRRRAAAAIIIIDDDDEEEERRRRSSSS!
