Allen: McGloin has earned another start "video"
OAKLAND – The Raiders won’t have a quarterback controversy this week. Head coach Dennis Allen said the Matt McGloin will start his third straight game on Thursday against the Dallas Cowboys.
Allen made that declaration in a postgame press conference following Sunday’s 23-19 loss to the Tennessee Titans at Oakland Coliseum.

“I thought Matt played well,” Allen said. “He got us the touchdown we needed in the fourth quarter. We just couldn’t hold up defensively.”
McGloin put the Raiders in position to win with a 75-yard touchdown drive midway through the fourth quarter. It ended with a 27-yard touchdown pass to Marcel Reece that put the home team up 19-16 with six minutes remaining.
McGloin completed 19 of 32 passes for 260 yards, a touchdown and a first-half interception that resulted in a Titans field goal.
That was good enough to keep his job over Terrelle Pryor, who was officially demoted on Wednesday but was healthy enough to be the backup on Sunday. Pryor has battled a sprained right knee since a Nov. 3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, which opened the door for McGloin to play last week against Houston.
McGloin capitalized on the opportunity and will carry on as the starter in the short term at least.
“It’s not really my decision,” McGloin said. “I’ll be ready when and if I’m called upon.”
