Has anyone else noticed over the past several days seems like they're playing a lot more older cuts on Jammin then they use to? I mean, I turned it on at about 10:30am yesterday morning (The Playhouse ends at 10) and I heard an old Roots track being played! I don't think I've EVER heard Jammin play a track by The Roots except when Starchile does on Sunday nights. I'm likin where this is going.

For those of you that don't know though, every Wednesday from noon to 1:00pm it's "Westcoast Wednesdays" where Bootz drops nothin but tight westcoast classics. I suggest you tune in during this time as it's my favorite time of the week to be a hip hop fan!

jammin is weak they should barrie it alive, and make several local stations that are inclined to the type of music that the northwest really likes. im not sayin that playin mainstream is bad...obviously its good for biz but allday over and over again, i wanna fuckin cut the power to the whole station when i hear sum fuckin hannah montana bull ass shit, when it could be palyin sum town shit. i heard kmel aint even showin locals over in that area love no more, radio is dying a slow sold out death

thats why i sed "i aint sayin playin mainstream is bad, its obviously good for bizz"
im just sayin get a person that can decide wether or not its worth playing.
i mean shit its a radio station theres gotta be sombody that has an ear for music right?

even if its a couple individual djs that play 75%mainstream 25%local and they get to choose the local, or atleast a daily running program that plays local. i dunno 95.5 hates portland so much, there prolly jus gonna turn into some classical easy listening slow groove bullshit just so the suicide rate in oregon would go up and the un-employment rate would go down.

lol, your logic is ridiculous but funny. i understand what you're saying. if they flip, it's not because they want to. it's because whomever is cutting the checks is backing out. i think there is a place for jammin in portland and once it is gone, you might be a bit irate. they don't love you til you fade to black.

lol, u get that i aint all hip to how the radio work now a dayz then right? im just sayin dont citys like LA have underground radio stations? and i wasnt really serious about 95.5 hatin portland i just think it comes off that way since the area they cater to isnt even bein catered, its bein forced to hear the hip-hop that its only hip-hop station plays witch is mainstream.

Sergeant Hustle kicks ass....

Greetings and Salutions to all....

First of all, Ms. Hustle, you kick serious ass... I love how you put it down with real talk!

2nd of all, rumors are out there. yes, there has been talk. there are also rumors of the possible deal falling completely apart and not happening. as far as i know, my general manager has said, we are jammin today, we'll be jammin tomorrow, and to make us cool again. we've got a cinco de mayo concert going down. we are part of the kanye west show in june. pge park has just bought the entire 08-09 season. from what i can tell, we are just fine, and planning for the future, as jammin 95.5.

Third, me and Careezy are now the Co-PD's. i'm handling the music and imaging, she's handling the promotions. that being said, we have changed MANY things already up here. So much so, that I guarantee you will be able to tell the difference within 15 minutes of listening. Check it out.

4th, as far as local support goes. we have coolnutz in rotation now. kenny mack was just here with me for 2 hours planning out him getting involved with us here. soul p is coming here tomorrow to talk. and we invite all locals and independent artists to reach out to us. it's a new day, a new time, here at jammin. i understand the importance of getting our local artists involved. it's been far too long. all we ask, is that you come at us with material that warrants airplay.

5th, spread the word. it's not the jammin you've grown to dispise over the past 5 years. we KICK ASS now, check us out....

Respect,
Bootz

It's a good look to reach out, Bootz. More of us radio heads should be interacting on these boards and helping folks to understand how the industry works. I'm glad to hear you all have some local cuts on deck. We have a feature here in Phoenix that showcases a local artist every week. They get about 35 spins a week on their track, plus placement on our web site. As a result, we have a good deal of respect from the local MC community for showcasing our own artists. Of course you can't please everyone and there will always be the people who bitch no matter what, but it's a step in the right direction. Best of luck to you and the Quere! Have fun with your freedom while it lasts! It sounds liberating! ;)

so what if somone did come out with a underground radio station? iz u sayin that its a large probability that it will go under real fast?
radio stations are expensive and the market for an underground station probably wouldn't pay the bills to keep the lights on for long. underground heads love shit until it gets on the radio, then they turn their backs on it. not only are they finicky, but they also don't support with their money. they are the first to bootleg and the first to turn their noses up when their fave MC gets some shine. it's an odd dichotomy, really. they bitch that their fave underground MC gets no shine, and then bitch when he finally gets a hit and they hear it 100 times a week. it's a lose/lose. what's less risky from a business standpoint? play flo rida.
