me obviously cause I started following NFL a year ago..

NFL is not the only sport in the world son, I have been a Dragons (rugby league) fan since 1980 (birth) the last time we won a premiership was 1979 and have sucked since, comming close on a few occasions to fail at the last hurdle. Yet next year we will have a champion coach who has promised us he wont leave till he wins us a title D:

not as bad as being a lions fan, but close..
So now you know how it feels to be a raider fan! I was born in 80 started liking the dolphins cause my cousin played for them........Then in 87 he was picked up by the raiders and ive been a fan every since.....Except we dont have a championship coach......And i was thinking the other day, the nfl thinks of us as a joke now, kinda like the lions.......In the last 5 seasons we are in a top 5 battle with lions, Texans and some other i dont remember for worst records in that span......Announcers lauph at shit the raiders do....Like that fake field goal through the legs.......Chris Collinsworth was laughing.......We are a joke....

Yeah I can undertsand that, thats why I don't mock raider fans. I will always have a soft spot for the lions though, the guy matt millen didn't really seem like a fun guy and I can see why raider fans hate davis..

but look on the bright side, eventually both teams will get alot better..

Lions have always been my second favourite team just based on geography....They really have never been in contention at all! Even though they've sucked the past couple years, with Kitna, their offense was actually pretty potent at times...They've always had bad personnel at key positions though.....offensive line especially, playing qb for the lions is like throwing yourself to the wolves! I really think that in professional sports they are in the top 5 of pitiful franchises(based on championships) along with Toronto Maple Leafs,Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks and insert team...It's hard to imagine these guys EVER winning

remember a few years back when the lions had the worst record in the league going into the last week, and all they had to do was lose to get the number 1 overall pick, and they won the game, and on ESPN one of the sportscasters said

"even when the lions win, they find a way to lose"

that had me rollin.

so I was just watching sportscenter and when talking about Culpepper signing with the Lions the announcer said something like "he must have wanted to play football REALLY bad"

which must be true.

The Detroit Lions are a fucking joke, and outside of Barry Sanders and their entrance into the Playoffs with Frerotte (I think in 03'?) my city's football team is straight garbage. I almost want them kicked out of the NFL altogether.

Which brings me to my question: why in the hell can't this franchise improve? Since my birth I think they've made the playoffs only twice, and are a running joke among NFL fans.

discuss. Or at least find funny pictures making fun of their terrible football plays.
You must iof been born like 11 years ago cuz I've seen the Lions go to the playoffs like 4 or 5 times with Barry & like once or twice w/o him.

And Barry Sanders is not the Lions only memories to the person that said that......Herman Moore, Dick "Night Train" Lane, Billy Sims, Doak mothafuckin Walker & Bobby Layne.

One of the first names that came to mind, aside from Barry Sanders and Herman Moore, was Robert Porcher. I'm not saying he was an All-Time great, but he was one of their better players for years.
