Bush: Brother Jeb would be ‘great president’
But president says in Florida he has no idea if younger sibling will run

ORLANDO, Fla. - President Bush suggested Wednesday that he’d like to see his family’s White House legacy continue, perhaps with his younger brother Jeb as the chief executive.

The president said Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is well-suited for another office and would make “a great president.”

“I would like to see Jeb run at some point in time, but I have no idea if that’s his intention or not,” Bush said in an interview with Florida reporters, according to an account on the St. Petersburg Times Web site.

The president said he had “pushed him fairly hard about what he intends to do,” but the younger Bush has not said.

“I have no idea what he’s going to do. I’ve asked him that question myself. I truly don’t think he knows,” Bush said.

Jeb Bush, 53, will end his second term as governor in January. His brother George ends his second presidential term in January 2009. Neither can seek re-election because of term limits.

Jeb Bush has repeatedly said he is not going to run in 2008.

Even dad doubts denials
But even his own father said no one believes him when he says he’s not interested in running at some point. Former President George H.W. Bush told CNN’s “Larry King Live” last year that he would like Jeb Bush to run one day and that he would be “awfully good” as president.

The Florida governor laughed when asked about his father’s comments last June. “Oh, Lord,” he said and shook his head no. “I love my dad.”

The brothers Bush appeared together Tuesday during the president’s visit to the Tampa area. Gov. Bush was waiting on the tarmac when Air Force One arrived and greeted the president with a politician’s handshake and “Welcome to Florida.” The president brushed aside the formality and playfully adjusted his younger brother’s necktie.

Jeb Bush introduced his brother at a retirement community in Sun City Center, where the president touted the new Medicare prescription drug benefit as the governor watched intently from a politically appropriate seat on stage right. They had a private lunch together with political supporters, then visited a fire station and appeared together before television cameras to express concern about wildfires that were blazing across the state.

The governor was not with the president during his visit to The Puerto Rican Club of Central Florida in Orlando Wednesday — George W. Bush’s final stop on a three-day trip to the state. But the president was sure his brother still got some attention.

“Yesterday I checked in with my brother,” President Bush said as he took the stage. “Make sure everything’s going all right. I’m real proud of Jeb. He’s a good decent man and I love him dearly.”

There is already an expected backlash on Republicans in the House of Rep's - if they want another Republican in the White House, they won't back another Bush.

And, GW could speak spanish, and his approval ratings would still be in the toilet.

The President should be EDUCATED, period. Not some Southern (or any other region) ding-bat that thinks God fucking talks to him. And not some stupid piece of shit that got average grades when they went to a school because their father did and got in on that backdoor type route. There are very FEW people in the world that would make a good leader. Only 3% of the population has what it takes to be a "real" leader.

This might be the most ignorant prejudiced thing I've ever said. And I'm all for immigrants. And I know how to speak enough spanish to say whatever I want. But if you're gonna live in this country, learn to speak fucking English. And dont be so stupid to think that speaking Spanish makes you a good candidate.

I heard Hitler spoke Spanish. But God didn't. Hmmm..........

But yeah...I would say "There will never be another Bush in the White House again". But I said that 4 years ago, and the motherfucker got re-elected. So I can't figure this country out. I think those of us in big cities on the East and West Coast all hate Bush and we all agree with each other, so we have no idea how someone could support him, and then Midwest America never ceases to surprise me.

But I agree with SIXXNESS - education is key. I consider myself fairly intelligent. Prove to me that you're more intelligent than I am, and at least as moral, and I'll vote for you. But Bush never once proved to me that he's more intelligent than I am. And when I think that I'm more capable of running the White House than he is - we are all in big trouble.

^^I agree, most people are not smart in most aspects. Most people are sheep/followers. The system banks on people like that to recycle the process of bullshit within our country, over and over and over. Unless there's a massive revolution, shit will never change.

Whats up with the latent xenophobes bringing their diatribe where it isn't even warranted? Nobody in this thread even mentioned someone who only speaks Spanish as a candidate, and we got the deep thinkers talking that "learn the language of the country" rigamarole. Save that for an immigration or English Only thread.

--------------------------

Another reason why people wouldn't back Jeb Bush is because the majority of Americans want a real, viable solution to the war that will bring the troops home. Who here actually sees Jeb undoing what his brother and father started?

lmao..at least is an adverb
AT LEAST he SPEAKS...
I don't think him knowing spanish would heighten his credentials..

Anywho, I think it's based on his agenda when it comes to how he will deal wit the issues that we face. If he sells himself and delivers at the Presidential Debate then he can stand a chance. Bush's so called strong convictions, beliefs and principles is what egged the ignorant on. Then again I didn't like Kerry that much anyway so we where screwed both ways. When I was growing up I went in favor of the democratic party because Africans Americans swayed that way. All I knew was if you're black vote for a democrat. lol, So in away I was like a sheep as well.
I'm not sure though, I do think that Bush will probably carry out his unfinished business through his brother if he is elected.
