Detroit's young guys are better than Bostons.. The whole Detroit bench is young. From Hayes, the oldest rotation player, who came in the league with Anthony and LBJ to Stuckey, Amir and Afflalo, who are all effectively in there rookie seasons, even though Amir has played like ten games in the NBA before this season.
None of the Boston young guys have the potential of Stuckey... Rondo's good and I think he's the only one that can really be a serviceable starter out of that Boston young core.. but they are replacing him now. I'm sure last year you thought that people like Gerald Green and others were people with bright futures too.
I would say next year, could be the end of Boston's window just because they are getting old. Allen breaks down every year and Garnett is starting to, also. I knew before this season that they wouldn't be able to go the whole season, and I wouldn't be surprised to see an extended period of time off for one of those guys, especially in the playoffs when things get a lot more physical and injuries tend to happen a lot more often.
Garnett started in the league at 19, but he's been playing full-time for 11 years, and that's what really counts, its more of the toll on your body from playing over 90 games a year for 11 years... People who do the college thing for two or three years only have to play 35 games those years, tops.. So the toll on your body is a lot worse, especially for a big man.
EDIT: And one reason I think Boston could wear down at the end of this season especially, is that they are playing so many minutes and you have a team full of guys who've never really done anything in the playoffs.
