Its a great idea that www.sactownradio.com has already put into action. We've been broadcasting and pushin this northern california music worldwide for 5 years now. We have mix shows being played over the air on stations in France and England. We get big listening hours outta Italy and Germany and all over Europe. We get listeners from Asia and Australia. We send out prize packages overseas all the time and I've got the postal bills to prove it...lol...

Its time to run with this idea because folks all over the world are feeling and wanting the sound coming outta the bay right now! Its universal mayne! Lets bring it to 'em!

Where u at? Sactownradio's got that place covered.

I'll just be real, that might sound great, but it never happens in rap for any region. If you think about it...every region is diverse, but the fact that you may be in a particular place will allow you to be exposed to the diversity in yours. The south has a lot of true lyricists, NY has conscious rappers who aren't on all that "I sell crack, I'm a thug" shit, and it's the same for most places. But companies are only down to pushin what will appeal the most.

Personally, The Bay should hope the hyphy movement will bring attention to them, because that is really the only thing on the west that is strong enough to get attention from other regions. Depending on how it goes, then you can hope that the companies will give a chance to rappers who aren't on that tip. Even for L.A. rappers in the 90's, it was hard as hell for a non-gangsta rapper to come out and stay around in the game...most of the non-gangsta rappers who did come out were one hit wonders like Skee-Lo and Ahmad.

So yeah...let the hyphy movement breathe...it's the only thing fresh enough in the game to make an impact.

I don't know why people complaining about the Hyphy movement

I grew up listening to that mobb music. We have been making that music for years and that's coo. But times do change and people seem to forget that. This hyphy thing is the reason why the bay has the spotlight right now. It was really bad a few years back. I remember when Kmel wasn't playing anything from the bay. The only time they did was on sunday nights at 11:00pm after Street Soilders. Now we see the bay all on MTV representing and KMEL supporting the local artists.
The old school heads should be hella happy that this generation of youngstas are getting down and bringing it back here.

In the grand scheme of things, music really ISN'T as big as some may think. To those who aren't a part of, but try to keep up with the goings on within the industry, it seems as if music impacts society a lot more than it does. It's no bigger than name brand shoes, movies or DVDs. Nowadays, music (at best) is an accessory. No one is really changing the world for the better with their music right now.

Music is now a short attention span product made for mass consumption.

Yes, thank you. Give the people some perspective.
