The Bay dont show thier artists any love...

Could be 2 answers here. One, no big platinum plus label backing them up. Or 2, no platinum material. It's not about talent these days, it's about marketing, and nobody from the bay is hitting the MASSES, because they don't have that appeal. In order to get a major deal you have to have a marketable look with platinum plus material. This isn't rocket science here.

Young 211, THAT IS REAL SPITTAGE MAN!! We been experimenting with beats and styles and all kinds of shit. I know once it drops people are gonna be like, "That shit's gay"...around here anyway. EVERY TIME we take shit OUTSIDE of the bay, we get love, people dig it...and I'm sorry to say this, and I'm sure you will agree with me here, but people OUTSIDE of the bay are basically getting tired of what the Bay is dropping. It's time for change, feel me?
Also, I take my hat off to you for making that move to NY. It shows you're ONE OF THE FEW artists that doesn't have that coast boundary embedded in your brain. If I could pick up and move to NY, I would, but I don't have the financial means to do so, I had to settle for a different area for the time being. Keep doin ya thang playboy...and oh yea, we will have that audio posted on the site most likely TONIGHT, I'll keep you posted pimp.

I dont think the Bays success has anything to so with major labels. I think if Bay Area rappers made something that had platinum potential, they would be picked up by a major. Look at Too Short back in the day, there was basically no scene back then besides a few very local cats but he was tight enough and made enough noise to be picked up by Jive...

I think theres a lot of simple reasons why. My best example is San Quinn, and again, this is by no means hatin' cause Quinn is like my favorite artists, but an album like The Mighty Quinn had a lot of diverse shit on it and could have went real big. However, I noticed that there was NO PROMOTION on the streets for it at all. I think the only promotion I saw was some small 3x5 style fliers and 1, yes 1, poster near 13th st. by the freeway. No one from the bay is going to make it big unless they have excellent promotion and also distribution. Fans on the board will agree that it can be very very difficult to find cds, and when it gets difficult, its a lot easier to burn a copy then search for it.
Lastly, no one in the bay area really makes an appeal to FEMALES. The reason why this Beesch I mean BASH cd will be successful on a national scale is that the females will love it. Too many Frisco artists have that pimp mentality, and a lot of females arent feelin' being put down on every track of a cd.

By the way, PERSONALLY I feel the bay supports itself well. I dont have numbers but Im guessing 98% of bay area artists sales are IN the BAY. I know it could be better but theres got to be some type of catalyst to start the change on a larger scale.
