Why is it, whenever a Bay Area artist blows up nationwide thier old fans hate on thier new success? It seems y'all dont want your local rappers to be any bigger than having N. Cali appeal. I thought the bay was about being anti-hating. This shit was built on game recognize game, but cats nowadays are hatin ass bitches. Recent posts on E-40 and Beesh inspired me to write this. I dont think the bay will ever be where it was in the mid 90's with this kind of attitude. In contrast, look at Houston. Thier local cats get mad love, especially when they have success beyond thier region. Its no wonder Beesh set up his new home base there, he gets more love from folks in Texas than he does in his own state....

i think beesh shittin on everyone. and it looks like he going bigger then 40.

so dont call it hate. i do however dislike it and dont support that fact that artist get feat and beats that dont fit them or this coast just to "do it big"

i will never show love for that. i like music not crap

blowin up is getting major recognition on a larger scale. Radio stations in Canada and Salt lake city werent playing Beesh before Suga Suga. Also, i'll pick a Beesh CD over those 2 cats any day. I like Quinn and Messy, but Beesh puts out a tighter cleaner product IMO...

Beesh is my family playas and all I gotta say is my cuzzin did what he had to do feel me? Music to him is bigger than just VALLEJO!!! Why waste your time in an area that wont show you love? An area that labels aren't tryin to fuck with! An area where you can spend the rest of your life putting out records, never knowing if you could've done better somewhere else. Think big playas! It's hard enough trying to get mutha fuckas to pay attention to us! Why make it harder by not supporting one another out here? If given the opportunity to do what 40 or Beesh is doing, I'd jump on it in a heart beat! Both Beesh and 40 are doing what they got to do to survive and why not do it by stayin true to the dream that almost every cat on these boards also has "MUSIC"

Why isn't anyone talkin shit about my boy Playa Rae doing it big in Colorado? I love that mufucka and I'll support him to the fullest but he also left this area to find success else where and we shouldn't knock any of them for it!

Just my opinion homies!

I should of said though! If any of these cats moved elsewhere and forgot where they came from and repped another spot liked they always lived there, then I wouldn't support shit! I know they haven't done that but that would be a reason for them to get hated on and get no love from the Bay!!

One!

One more time: just cause I think Breakin News isnt tight doesnt mean its because Im "hatin" on 40 or that its because he blew up or because he changed his sound; its because I DONT LIKE IT. It just doesnt do anything for me, it doesnt really make me nod my head, it doesnt impress me, it doesnt knock, it just dont sound right.

Grit and Grind was a tight album. That was one of 40s "goin big" albums and to me its his second best work. If 40 makes a tight CD then I will pick it up! Dont get that twisted. But this one aint doin it for me. Im not gonnaspend $14 of hard earned money cause 40 is from the bay if I dont like his cd.

Thanks playa....but they are, believe me it's just not all over the net yet....but I've heard from plenty of people. It's all in the game though dog....we all gotta make our own path's in this game that some might not agree with. BTW - my next move looks like Houston, Tx. in 2004....I am already plannin my first trip there right now. San Jose till my heart stops beating but....I'll rep it on the road and not in a cage.

This is REAL SHIT right here...it ain't even about artists that have blown up. You know how much love our shit gets in the bay?? NEXT TO NONE!! Yet, it's incredible that cats down in So Cal and all over the rest of the country go out of their way just to tell me how much they dig the shit we put out!! The biggest surprise was when we met these cats from BROOKLYN, and they heard our shit, and they heard GAME THEORY, and they LOVE THE SHIT!! My only guess is, the Bay doesn't love what isn't Bay...and our shit is NOT bay. The beats on my first album were pretty Bay-ish, but in no way is our style or content BAY, and nobody can tell me different.

When a bay artist flips the script and does what he has to do to advance to the next level, that's when the hating begins.

It takes respect to get respect!

E-40 is doing what most any other artist would be doing given his position and his credits. He expanding.
So he isn't what he used to be, time changes most artists big deal.....

I noticed a lot of you bay area artists don't really see anything past your Bay Area territorial borders. I mean sometimes in order to blow up, you gotta reach out past your area to get respect in your own area. Look at the Hieroglyphics and the Backstreet Boys for example, you are probably wondering why I have these 2 mentioned together in the same sentence. Well just for the record they got nothing in common EXCEPT they went past US borders and got respect in other countries which eventually filtered down back to their own land. Think about it, Hiero doesn't really make as much money in the Bay or in the US in general but when they go to Japan, Europe, and wherever they get tons of them foreign exchange money! Money is money no matter what it says on the front weather it be a picture or some sort of animal (I don't give a fuck).

It seems most cats are haters since they feel that the other artist that is blowing up is no longer acting like them or doing the same things they're doing or even in the same ego circle. Pac ain't really from the Bay Area and a lot of his lyrics weren't even that Bayish since they mostly talked about social issues but it was his difference and how he stood out that made him a Bay Area idol.
