yeah im pass that pac phase, used to bash him for that but now im able to accept his music, because he does have some good music to listen to.... it's not like he's the only one that was influenced and tried to imitate pac, a shitload of rappers have done it. just like jordan done influenced a whole generation of ballers, pac influenced a whole generation of rappers etc...

bought this album and damn im impressed. really solid album.alotta dope solid tracks w/ the lyrics and "production" to back it up... theres a couple fillers but nothing too bad.... it's a breath of fresh air to hear real music like this again, in this new mainstream age. try it outs you're guaranteed to like something on this album. it's one of the top new releases for the south/westcoast and hiphop in general this year. forget the pac comparisons tha realest really has an ear for beats and makes alotta good diverse tracks with good content. even edi co-signs him and addresses the haters on this album.... alotta these tracks will put you in a pac state of mind aka "rider mode"
i can't believe im actually diggin an album on an artist i used to talk trash on. if you can get past the pac similarities then you'll enjoy this album. it's the best realese this week next to krizz kaliko's album...

rating: 3.5-4 outta 5. it's worth buying or dl.
tracks to bump:
"memory lane" (spark one up and reminisce about the past....)
"thats juss lyfe" w/crooked i & val young (dope beat, deep content, great hook)
"tha good lyfe" (beat is addictive)
"witness tha realest" w/ fat joe (grimey production)

Someone should hook me up with this to see if it's worth a buy. I have to order Yuk's new CD but Realest does not have a proven track record in my book.

heres some fun facts and interesting stuff involving the making of this album straight from enigma who works closely with the realest if you haven't known yet.... this was posted by him on dubc forums recently:

Enigma:
And whether anyone wants to believe it or not, there was heavy Aftermath influence all throughout this album. Mike Lynn, the A&R for Aftermath personally chose to get involved in this project as the A&R, with no promise of any major financial turnaround in terms of sales. A good majority of the album was even done in the Aftermath studios. With that said, you can be guaranteed that there'd be no reason for any dissing. Infact, there was no dissing what so ever on this album.

Heres another answer to a track that is sure to raise eyebrows as to which "BIG WESTCOAST PRODUCER" produced this track: (if you have an actual copy and look at the credits theres no producer listed for the track "y i keep my burna on me)

Enigma:
"Y I Keep My Burna On Me", I can't really speak on who produced the track, the name was kept off the album for a reason.

It's too bad, because if this producer had allowed his name to be placed in the credits and advertisements, it would have boosted sales MAJORLY, and everyone on this forum would have been going ballistic. It's someone you all know and really love, I'll leave it at that

Maybe someday it can be announced publicly, but its staying private for now.

damn thats, interesing, heavy aftermath influence and most of this was done in aftermath studios. no wonder some songs do actually an aftermath type vibe to it...hmmm i wonder who could it be that produced the "y i keep my burna on me" track, that beat is dope....

I actually just listened to the snippets on Amazon and sounds way too much like Pac so I'm going to pass on this one. I did check out Yuk's new album and I definately gotta order that shit though, i'm just surprised my best buy doesn't have it, they got his other albums.

I bought it off of iTunes yesterday
After spinning it once, I think The Realest is on point on the mic but the beats are hit and miss... kinda like the weaker beats that we would get on more recent C-Bo or Yukmouth albums ......and I'm not really into the singers doing the hooks.....I'd probably give it a 6/10
